Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
We contacted Marcus the owner of Feast Catering, on or about March 15th, 2008 and scheduled his company to provide catering services for our daughters sweet 16 event to be held on Saturday June 7th, 2008. After speaking to him and selecting our menu, he told us that he needed a $2,500 deposit upon our initial consult, which we paid by check. He also instructed us to stop down at his office a week prior to the event to pay the remaining balance of $1,649.86 which we paid him cash.

On that Saturday morning, my wife contacted his office to verify the time he was showing up to our event. She she received a voice recording, in which she left a message. Our event was scheduled for 3:00pm. At about 1:00pm, we still have not heard from Marcus or his staff. I immediately drove down to his office, only to be shot down by a locked door. We now were scrambling to get a hold of him. NOTHING....

Both my wife and my daughter were in tears. I frantically called another a local Pizza shop to drop off wings, pizza, salads, ans sodas. You could imagine the embarrassment my family faced at a formal white collar event, serving pizza.

The following Monday, I contacted Marcus. He stated that he got mixed up and had the wrong day listed on his personal calendar. Keep in mind this is well documented on my contract which stated Saturday June 7th, 2008 10:00am set-up with our menu.

He refuses to give me my money back, and is telling me that I can use that towards another event with his company. I 'am in the process of taking his company to small claims count.

Response to alleged event booking

#2REBUTTAL Owner of company

Wed, July 02, 2008

Myself and my employees have no knowledge of know who this person is, and there is no correspondence on record with this person. There is no booking on record for a Sweet Sixteen party on June 7th at 3.00pm; furthermore, there is no booking on record this year for such an event. There is no signed contract on record for this alleged event. Nor do we have contracts with any of our vendors - such as a rental company for glassware, china etc. There is no record of ever receiving a $2,500 deposit check. Furthermore, it is not company policy to request a deposit after the initial consult, as alleged. We simply require $500 to hold the date. I did not request that this person to stop down at his office a week prior to the event to pay the remaining balance of $1,649.86. We have no knowledge of anyone visiting to our office to pay cash, prior to this alleged event, nor is there a receipt on record. It is not company policy to request payment in full prior to an event, as it is impossible to calculate the final total of an event until it is complete. Company policy requires a 50% deposit one-week prior to the event, with the balance due following. Furthermore, a client would never be expected to go out of their way to personally deliver payment; we typically arrange to collect deposits during final meetings prior to our events. Our business operations moved the week of May 26, 2008. If this person was in fact a client, he would have been personally informed of our move, and given our new contact information. Furthermore, had this person actually stopped down at his office a week prior to the alleged event to pay the remaining balance of $1,649.86 or drove down to his office on the day of the alleged event; both days he would have found that the company was no longer operating at the address stated in his report. Thus, how could he have given balance of $1,649.86 in cash to someone in the company? There is no record of this person contacting me by telephone on June 7, 2008. I give my personal cell phone number to all clients who have events booked with the company, and I'm available 7-days a week to take their calls. This is the only number this person would have called had they in fact called me. I happened to be on vacation the weekend of the alleged event. My wife was with me the entire time, and can verify (as can my phone records) that my cell phone did not ring once during the weekend. Lastly, I did not receive a telephone call from this person on Monday, June 9, 2008, nor did the alleged conversation regarding refunds take place. If my company failed to comply with the terms of the contract as alleged; it would be completely inappropriate to request that a client hold money towards another event. Had this alleged sequence of events actually occurred, I would gladly give a refund for the full amount to this person. I have yet to receive a notice of the alleged suit from small claims court, and can only assume that I will never receive this notice I am deeply offended that someone took the time to write the fabrications stated this posting, and can only assume it's a hoax of some kind. Both my employees and I work extremely hard to ensure every event we do is a success, and that our clients are completely satisfied. My business is built on word-of-mouth, and we would not have a successful business if we treated our clients like this. I don't believe in contributing to this type of website this and other sites like this create avenues on the internet for hoaxes such as this, which can ruin the reputation of a small company. However, the only avenue for me to set the record straight about my name and company's reputation is to take the time to write this response. Marcus Baird, Owner Feast Catering
