A government rip-off of citizens is underway. My home is unfortunately located in the county where the rip-off started. The rip-off by FEMA is to go nationwide.

Maybe they are trying to refill their coffers from Katrina by requiring more people to pay exorbitant hazardous flood zone insurance. My newly required flood insurance was going to be aprx. $3000 per year.

There were aprx. 100 properties in my county affected by this new FEMA policy. I had to go through the bureaucratic head ache of fighting this. I HAD TO PAY for a survey to be done of my property to prove it is not in a hazardous flood zone.

My surveyor said that based on the information given by FEMA in their reassesment map, this decision was NOT BASED ON ANY NEW INFORMATION.

Citizen's should not have to go through the hassle, cost, and irritation of proving that their property didn't just jump into a flood zone when they were'nt looking.

One of those affected in our county lost two sales on her property due to this flood zone determination. Some who are at lower income levels could lose their homes because they can't afford the exorbitant insurance now required by their mortgage holder.
