FID International Lost my international shipment - no refund despite having paid for insurance Sunrise, Florida
On January 18, 2012, I placed an order for Richard Sanchez to ship a bed from San Francisco to Paris. The original loading date was scheduled to be January 23, 2012. We were told it would take about 8 weeks for our shipment to arrive in France.
First sign of an issue was when the pick up date was missed saying that they wrote down the wrong number for the building. The bed was picked up a few days later and we made a final payment.
Subsequently, after multiple e-mails afterwards asking for an update, we received a reply from Richard Sanchez on February 20th, 2012, promising shipping information for our bed. We subsequently never received word that our bed was shipped from the US to Europe.
Over the next 2 months, we sent e-mails and called countless times to try to get an update. Our emails were ignored and our calls invariably ended being told to come back. Sometimes they claimed that our shipment had arrived in the UK and was in a warehouse. At other times we were told that the person who knew the location of our bed was a "manager in Los Angeles." We were even once given a fake name in terms of who we were going to. On April 18th, someone (James) finally told us that he could see on his system that we had shipped an item but could not tell where it was. Ultimately, every call ended the same way - with our getting no information regardless of the tone we used and/or FID refusing to help resolve the issue.
Incidentally, on their FID claims to be a "proud member of the Better Business Bureau" on their forms and materials. That is not true. The BBB website rates FID an "F" and states that they are not accredited. Similarly, they claim to be a member of the AMSA but they are NOT listed on that organizations on-line directory.
