Fife RV Fife RV Center Consignment scam Bonney Lake, Washington
The consignment program at Fife RV Center (based out of Bonney Lake, Gig Harbor and Fife) is a total scam. I wanted to sell my practically still new 2010 trailer through a consignment dealer to avoid the hassles of selling it myself.
They charged me $400 to "detail" the trailer, convinced me to pick a sales price that I thought was a bit low, and locked me into a 90 day contract. They said there was no commission, but that they would get to keep whatever they sold it for over the minimum price we agreed on. They said don't even bother to deep clean it, because they would clean it again anyway.
Two weeks after I dropped it off, it went back to the lot to check on it - not telling the salesman that I was the owner. It had a price tag for more than I had paid for it NEW - way,way too much for it. Not only that it was NOT detailed, not even touched. I called to complain. They apologized for not cleaning it and explained the higher price was to leave room to negotiate sales. Yea, right - to make the brand new models look like great deals. This was total bait and switch fodder.
Two weeks later I went up to check on it again - it was gone. They had moved it to their Gig Harbor lot. Said it would get more traffic there. Yea, right, I felt they wanted to hide it from me.
So, 4 months later about a week before my consignment contract is up - they call me saying they have a buyer, but there is a "problem" - they want to pay about $1.5K less than the minimum price we had agreed to. I said fine, just sell it. That sale fell through within the week. They said they could continue to keep the trailer, but I opted to take it back. When I got it back, the first thing I noticed was IT WAS STILL DIRTY. So basically, the $400 detail fee I paid was for nothing.
