Findlay Ford rips customers off in their service department.

They charge what they call a Writeup Fee of $25 when you take your car or truck in to get worked on and then when you go to pick it up and pay they have a $25 write up fee on the invoice.

They do not reveal that fee to you till its all over with and you have to pay.

What they are doing is Illegal.

If they do not reveal a fee when you take your vehicle in they you do not have to pay it.

If you have been a victim of this scam by Findlay Ford write a complaint here on ripoffreport, send a letter to the State of Ohio Attorneys General Office, The Better Business Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission, asking them to close down Findlay Ford for what they are doing to innocent customers by charging them to write up a work order and then not revealing beforehand about the $25 fee involved.

Lets face it.

They charge way to much for repairs in the first place

And then they try and tag on another $25 fee ?????????

Shop elsewhere and have your repairs done by another place for lots less money.

If you have been a victim of the $25 write up fee from Findlay Ford I advise you to file a comlaint so they stop this illegal practice. It does not cost a dealership $25 to type up a piece of paper on their computer to show what they have done to your vehicle. Its bad enough what they charge you for repairs let alone charge another $25 for a piece of paper. It is Illegal to charge a fee for something like this that they do not reveal to the customer at the time they write up your estimate. Get real Findlay, Ford Its no wonder your dealership is going down hill fast with customer service like what you have.

On your repair order, very close to the line where you signed to authorize repairs, is the following statement: "SUPPLIES: A charge of 5% of the total labor, up to a maximum of $25.00 is included for environmental control measures and shop supplies used in connection with the service of your vehicle. Applicable items are: Nuts, Bolts, Washers, Cotter Pins, Tape, Silicones, Grease, Solvents, Gasket Sealers, Rags, Carburetor Cleaner, Towels, Solder, Battery Cleaner, Battery Sealer, Wire, Windshield Sealer, Choke Cleaner, White Grease, etc." This shop supply charge, being 5% of the total labor, is industry standard, and you will find similar words on the repair order in any shop, whether a dealership or independent repair facility. There are no hidden charges, that statement is in plain sight where you signed to authorize work on your vehicle. This disclaimer now reads a maximum of $15.00 to be better aligned with market average. As far as charging way too much, compare apples to apples. Yes, you may shop around and find the repairs for a cheaper price. However, you are not getting original equipment replacement parts, covered by a parts and labor warranty at any Ford-Lincoln-Mercury dealership, installed by factory trained and certified technicians, using state-of-the art diagnostic equipment not available to the aftermarket shops. You may save a little on one repair, but it may cost you in the long run when you get poor quality repairs, inferior parts that don't last, and maybe even misdiagnosis of your concern resulting in spending money that does not fix your car. Also, bringing your concern to the attention of management would have resulted in a simple explanation of charges, showing you the form you signed, and overall a good business relationship, saving you embarrassing yourself on this forum with mis-information. Management wants happy customers, give them the chance to do what it takes to make you one before you take steps like this.

"Borninohio", Once again you display your total ignorance. First of all, I would bet money that there is a board that has all shop fees clearly disclosed. [I work in a major truck dealership]. You just have to pay attention. Second, no dealership is going to get closed down on some little thing like a $25 charge. Third, You say they are too expensive, but do you have any idea what it costs to operate a dealership service center? Building costs, insurance, maintenence, employees, training, tools, utilities, EPA compliance, OSHA compliance, disposal costs, administration/book keeping, advertising, etc. etc. etc. How do you think they pay that overhead? How much is too much? What do you think is a fair hourly rate? Here's a hint for your little brain. If you are paying a mechanic $22/hr, your total employee cost is abot $30/hr. [No profit yet] If your base overhead is $40,000/month just to open the doors and you are open 5 days a week and work 8 hour shifts, your overhead cost is about $227 per hour to run the shop, plus your actual employee cost above. Now say you have 10 mechanics. Every hour those mechanics need to produce $52.70/hour. This is based on being on paid time all day and being productive, which rarely happens. Now, you can see, it COSTS more than $52/hour to run a major dealership. What did they charge you? $65/hour? That is a $13/hour profit, before taxes. >>> Report: Findlay Ford Lincoln Mercury Ripoff. I doubt that it is a "write up fee"

What if you took your car to the dealer for an oil change (about $25)? Will they change you an additional $25 to write up the work order? I doubt it. I think that the fee may be a diagnostic fee. If so it is very reasonable. Why don't you ask the Ford dealer the official name of the fee and what it is for. I'd like to know.
