AND AGAIN....Fingerhut went out of business in 2002..the current Fingerhut is owned by a completely different company. Your complaint needs to be addressed with Jefferson Capital, not the current Fingerhut Direct Marketing. Jefferson Capital is a COLLECTIONS AGENCY, and just by reading your "story" I am inclined to believe there is a lot more to it than meets the eye. Good luck hiring a lawyer to sue a company that is no longer in existence. If you feel that collections actions against you are wrong, you can have this corrected at your local Credit Bureau. As a person that is married to a lawyer, I can tell you right now you are wasting your money. It will most likely cost you more in legal fees, and you will still walk away with a big ZIT on your credit report, than it would be for you to resolve this on your own, with the assistance of the multiple credit and consumer agencies that are available to every American citizen. Although I empathize your situation, I do not sympothize with peoples willingness to SLANDER a legitimate company that just so happens to have kept the name of it's predicessor. The primary reason that the old Fingerhut is no longer in existence is because of poor choices in extension of credit to DEADBEATS that got their merchandise and never paid a dime for it. Most of the former Fingerhut customers were/are wonderful, hard working, and BILL PAYING people. Fingerhut Direct Marketing has literally MILLIONS of the former Fingerhut customers that have continued to support, maintained their loyalty, and paid their bills. We at Fingerhut Direct Marketing not only work here..many of us have accounts with Fingerhut Direct Marketing, and appreciate the fact that we are able to do so. It's far too easy for people to sit at a computer and point the finger of blame at an entity they know nothing about. I suggest this person do their research before hiring a lawyer...again...pitiful waste of time and money.
