Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

Michael Finn claims he will conduct a comprehensive evaluation and construct an appropriate engagement letter related to your individuall timeshare purchase. He does not do as he claims.  He has one retention letter that he sends out for all timeshare situations. You pay 2000.00 for one correspondence, prewritten.

He tells you to stop paying fees and stop communications with the parent company and then tells you he is waiting for a return correspondance. Not true.  The parent company does not respond back.  The timeshare parent company just cancels your timeshare and takes your deposit money and resells it to someone else that will probably want to cancel their timeshare too. Both lawyer and timeshare make money.

What Mr. Finn does not tell you is that you do not need him.  Just stop paying all fees and the timeshare company will do everything Mr. Finn's firm promises except they won't charge you a fee to cancel your timeshare.

I read the post above and was compelled to clarify something.  Everyone needs to understand that Greg Crist from NTOA is also the marketing director for Finn Law Group.  There is a handy bait and switch tactic inherent in that relationship.

Finn Law Group charges $3800 to file some papers on your behalf, something you can do on your own, for free.

Resort Release is short for American Resource Management Group that says they are in Illionois, but are in Florida.  They charge twice what the other disposal companies do and the result is the same.

I am a Diamond Resorts owner. I met Mike Finn after Pulitzer winner Gretchen Morganson quoted him in her New York Times Article, "Hard Sell Timeshare Comes Roaring Back". After learning my husband and I were to be interviewed for the FOX show Property Man hosted by Las Vegas Attorney Bob Massi as timeshare victims, I began to research Diamond Resorts and timeshare in general.

I became a contributor to TheStreet, Jim Cramer of Mad Money CNBC's investment news service and also began to write for Inside Timeshare in Spain. I started interacting with the National Timeshare Owner's Association, the only lobby organization on the side of the timeshare consumer rather than the powerful timeshare lobby ARDA.

I met the CEO of NTOA, Greg Crist, and Mike Finn because I became alarmed over the predatory nature of timeshare sales and marketing and especially lending. Mike Finn has worked with NTOA to stop fraud in the timeshare industry. He made little or no money suing BlueGreen timeshare, but was able to knock down foreclosure from "foreclosed" to "settled for less" which is less of a hit to an owner's credit.

People began contacting me after reading my articles distraught and not knowing where to turn. As a volunteer advocate I have helped two families be released from their timeshare for a $250 timeshare company transfer fee as part of their volunteer surrender program. Mike Finn offerred advice for no charge.

When people have a loan and are concerned about their credit rating, people need a lawyer. Also, not all voluntary surrenders are granted, as featured in our local television news report, interviewing one of Mike Finn's clients, Ralph Marble was diagnosed with a medical condition and could not travel. He was denied a surrender for eight years until the TV reporter contacted the company. The interview can be found linked in my Inside Timeshare article "Illness not a Reason to Surrender".

To verify the accuracy of my statement, contact the National Timeshare Owner's Association. They have an "Ask NTOA" tab. Mike Finn has assisted NTOA to introduce legislation benefitting timeshare owners. I interact with 25 individuals to slow the predatory and deceptive nature of timeshare sales, lendng and marketing. Eight are lawyers, including three lawyers pursuing class action lawsuits against timeshare companies.

I have referred people who do need legal help to lawyers because they have loans outstanding. I will continue to do so when I cannot help the family because the resort denied the surrender or there is a loan. The Florida AG shut down 41 timeshare relinquishment scams. Dave Ramsey and Laura Ingraham of FOX are endoring Resort Release. Resort Release should be the topic of a rip-off report, because they are the "legitimate" transfer agents charging between $2500 to $7000 to guarantee a deed-back when the surrender has been denied only to sell back to the developer who resells for full value. I encourage all to go to the Finn Law Group "Learning Center" and read the articles Mike Finn has written. He is over the average retirement age, but continues to work because he is as angry with timeshare as I am. I owned three weeks for over 25 years with no complaints until Diamond Resorts took over our resort. Diamond Westgate and Wyndham are three companies that need to change.

How to terminate ownership of a time share

Without a doubt, timeshare cancellation is the best and easiest solution to get rid of an unwanted time share. Once the contract is properly cancelled, the strings attached to the resort will be gone forever. Nevertheless, it is important to do the cancellation through the right people. There are many timeshare cancel professionals that ask for an upfront fee, and then they disappear. This is a good article on how to terminate ownership of a time share:
