Hello to all.
I have dealt with Firestone for many years, plus I had friends that worked for Firestone.
First, FireStone. is a tire shop not a auto-repair/service center. Yes, Firestone sells good tires. As for repairs you have another thing coming. For an example, will you go to your dentist and get an eye exam?? Those of you who do go to firestone for repairs and service would probably go to your dentist and ask for an eye exam. Firestone wants to dominate te auto-service inderstry and are trying to push all other auto services companies away. They have become very greedy. The workers Firestone hires are not mechanics nor techinicians, they are tire instalers. These tire installers know very little about car repair; they will use your car as practise. I know this for a fact cause Firestone does not pay its employees well and according to the workers that I talked to, most are there temporally No real Mechanic will work on a Sunday with minumm pay. You want tires, yes Firestone. You need quality service on your car. I'll segest dealer or specialty shops.Plus Firestone shops do not have the proper equipment and tools to do Auto-repairs. Aviod shops that claim they work on every car and do all types of work. Just think about asking your dentist for that eye exam.

I am a proud, long time employee of Firestone and you claims are ignorant! While each Firestone location has one or two General Service technicians that primarily do just oil changes and tire changes every other technician working out there has some sort of ASE Certification. Most, if not all, states require this!
As far as your comments on the pay structure are concerned you are again ignorant to the reality. Firestone pays the service writers up front and the General Service Techs well above average and a normal work week consists of at least 48 hours a week. Rarely will you see less than that. The ASE techs work piece work and are paid based on experience with some senior techs making $25-$30 per hour.
Finally, please explain to me why you make the assumption that Firesone does not have the proper equipment or tools. Each tech provides their own tools. This is a requirement. All the "shop" type tools such as tire dismount/mount machine, wheel balancer, strut changing tool, alignment rack, service lifts and even torque wrenches are up to date and are provided by Firestone so again... Ignorant!
I'm not sure what prompted you to make this report since you didn't really indicate a specific incident so I can only assume that you took your car to them for tires and were made aware of other work that needed to be done, which probably offended you, and decided to come on here and make an empty claim that they are rip offs! This report is a joke and you are ridiculous!

Although I am not a fan of Firestone for tires or car repairs, I have on a few occasions gone there as a matter of convenience to get a few things done.
What I did observe here in BOTH Bradenton, FL locations being the one at the DeSoto Mall, and the one at 14th St W and 63rd Ave, is a whole line up of various ASE certifications on the wall, and almost every person in the shop having ASE patches on their uniforms.
I also saw a well equipped shop, and a knowledgeable service advisor, as I can tell because I used to work in this industry.
Naturally, I would never suggest an engine swap or rebuild, or tranny rebuild, etc, but I would be confident in almost everything else that a good job would be done.
I have never had a problem with either location for the work that was done other than price which is somewhat out of line with many other good shops in the area.
But, I knew that going in, and I paid for convenience.
