Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

After filing a claim some 8 months ago on an easement issue caused by the most historically convoluted group of parcels in our area (read local title researchers didn't find the problems that you could see from orbit with a little digging),

First American has done absolutely nothing to help us resolve the issue. No information on the process, only stonewalling.

If you ever have to get title insurance, I would suggest anything but First American. Their treatment has been highly unprofessional and inhuman to we, the involved. And they even have insured the adjoining, disputed parcel and refuse to help in any capacity. Diffident jerks.

Having rejected multiple lame settlements (where they even got our name wrong), we finally signed a settlement nearly 2 months ago. These bastards are still stonewalling it. They buy state congress ( in this instance, the slimy Indiana GOP) to further relax title research laws, they collude with banksters to keep their useless place in the realty process and they step on the buyer by delaying and using their size. Didn't we leave Europe to escape this kind of oligarchy? Wtf, America?

Almost 3 years and still no justice on our claim. John Bethell Title in Bloomngton sells this as "insurance". Can you afford to have your property blocked for years? If so, go right ahead and use FAT.

Look back over any communication you have received from First Am.  You should have a claim #.  If you do not, then you do not have a formal claim in process and you need to correct your claim submission.  If you do have a claim #, then send a certified letter to the attorney who was assigned to your case.  Cite the claim # and ask for a status.  There are some claims that involve legal actions that take time.  If they cannot respond in a way that you understand or you think you are being stonewalled, contact the state insurance department and ask for assistance or file a complaint.  You may also consider contacting your state attorney general.  Both regulators have their eyes on title insurers and if the claim is being legitimately handled, they will help you understand that.  If you are being stonewalled, they may help move the matter forward.
