First Capital Consumer Credit ripoff Ontario
I received a call from a representive named Amy Smith that supposedly works for First Capital stating that I have been approved for 2 credit cards (visa, mastercard) with limits of $2000 each.
Amy told me that I would have until June 21st to get $199 to be drafted out of my account and for security purposes she would have someone call me and verify all the information. Upon withdrawal of the $199 on June 21, 2002 they would send the cards within 10 business days.
Another person from the same organization called back and said his name was Gary Ortez and he claimed he was with the security department confirming the information that I gave to Amy.
They both sounded so convincing that I agreed to the deduction of $199 from my account. NO card came. I attempted many times to call the number that they gave me as a customer service number which is not a toll free number and have yet to talk to a real person you always get a recording to keep trying to call back or you can leave a message. I have left many messages and have not received a single call back from these people.
I called the number that showed up on my caller Id and I got a representive that told me that I would have to call the number that I was left as a customer service number.
The Representive from this alleged company was very rude when you call to cancel the transaction and she claims you would have to call the customer service number but nobody ever calls you back
For anyone reading this and fell for the fraudlent scam don't be a victim I learned a $199 lesson and will never trust any telemarketer again. Protect yourself and double check all calls like this by any means available to you.
