I received a Certified Cashiers Check in the mail, submitted it to the First Convenince Bank,I deposited the check that Saturday as soon as I had received, the manager said it would be posted the following Tuesday, that Tuesday i made a withdrawal for 2,100.00 dollars, then two days or three later i went to make another purchase at Custom Wholesale, the sale was declined on my card.

Immediately went to the bank where I deposited the check. The manager told me several things, neither true, one, the bank had stopped payment on a certified cashiers check, second, they had been having a lot of scams with the cashiers checks. In my words, the bank failed to follow thru with an investigation on the cashiers check before posting to my account, they did not notify the bank that the check was drawn on.Plus I had an additional 630.00 dollars in my account that i had received from my social security check to live on until the 15th of this month,Wrong, they also took all of my money which left zero in my account.

The banker or would be manager does not know how to manage a bank.they are blaming me for the check being no good, then why did they post it to my account. When they posted it to my account, that told me the check was good and the money was there. If the manager had done his job,i would not be having this problem of nothing to buy food with.Thank you First Convenience Bank for taking my money

Why no anger towards the place you got the cashier's check? They are the ones ripping you off. They are the ones who stopped payment on the check. Why aren't you going after them for ripping you off? You have to be very cautious with cashier's checks. There are a lot of scams going around involving them. Yuo should never cash and spend one prior to making sure that it clears, which will take more than 1 buisness day (all the time you gave the bank)

In short, your bank didn't rip you off, whomever mailed you that check did. Whats the rest of the story?

The banker or would be manager does not know how to manage a bank.they are blaming me for the check being no good,
- When you present a check for deposit you are representing that it is good.  As such YOU are held responsible if the check comes back as bad.

then why did they post it to my account.
-
Because by Regulation CC they are required to post it to your account within a specific time period.  But making the funds available for you does not mean the check can not come back as bad.

Tell me if this sounds familiar.  You received a check from someone you do not know.  This was either for some "secret shopping" opportunity, a new job as a "payment processor", winning some contest to pay for taxes, or you they were buying something from you and sent a check for over the amount.  They then told you to cash the check and send them a Western Union to an "associate" in a Foreign Country.  You deposit the Cashiers Check and after you withdrew and sent the money and then the check comes back as a bad or counterfeit check.  They then reversed the check leaving you several hundred dollars in the Negative.

I bet I am pretty close.  The reason I am sure is that variations of the "Cashier Check" scam has been going on for decades.  The scammers keep going because they are relying on the regulations that make the funds available and the victim's willingness to throw out all common sense in order to cash a check and send someone they don't know a couple thousand dollars through an untraceable source.

You fell for the phony check scam.  This site is chock full of postings about that one.    Real cashiers checks for thousands of dollars don't just pop into your mailbox.  Of course, this scam targets people who are likely to believe that they do.     No doubt you were required to send someone else cash via some untraceable means like Western Union or Green Dot.

What the manager told you is true.   There are rules that banks have to follow dealing with the posting of funds for a deposited check.    Just because the money is posted to your account does not mean that the check cleared.   Of course, the scammers that had you send them money know all about this.  They were counting on you not knowing it.

".The manager told me several things, neither true, one, the bank had stopped payment on a certified cashiers check, second, they had been having a lot of scams with the cashiers checks. "

Sounds to me like both were true.   It wasn't a real certified check, so why would you expect them to pay on it.  It's also true that there are a lot of phony check scams involving bogus cashiers checks.

". In my words, the bank failed to follow thru with an investigation on the cashiers check before posting to my account, they did not notify the bank that the check was drawn on. "

That's not how the banking system works.  That's why this scam exists.   The scammers know that your bank must post the funds to your account a good 7 days before the originating bank identifies the check as being a phony.   If they can sucker you into sending them money in that time span, they win.

".Plus I had an additional 630.00 dollars in my account that i had received from my social security check to live on until the 15th of this month,Wrong, they also took all of my money which left zero in my account.  "

Of course.    You withdrew $2100 on a phony check, so now you owe the bank $2100.  They'll continue to take any money that you put into your account until they've been paid back.

"The banker or would be manager does not know how to manage a bank.they are blaming me for the check being no good, then why did they post it to my account "

The manager knows exactly how to manage a bank.   They posted it to your account because they are required to do that by federal banking regulations.   Ultimately, you are responsible for any bad checks you deposit into your account.   You can't deposit bad checks and expect the bank to take the loss.

",that told me the check was good and the money was there "

A check is not considered cleared until it has been delivered to it's bank of origin and verified.  The scammers were hoping you didn't know this.

Face up to the fact that you fell for a scam and were tricked into sending the scammers money.  You thought you'd come into easy money, but you didn't.  About 99% of scams depend on the greed of their victims in order to be successful.    The bank followed all of the rules (as the scammers hoped they would).
