I cancelled my account with First National Card on 7/11/06 and received written correspondence confirming my request to close my account.
However, on 8/7/06 First National Card tried to withdraw three transactions through my checking account. I called First National Card and spoke to Davisha (ID #58090) who said that because my letter requesting account cancellation was received 5 days before their cut off date, they charged me their annual fee on $99.00, credit card protection fee of $99.00 and a membership fee of $29.99. I explained to Davisha that the reason I closed my account was due to their inflated fees. The conversation went back and forth and I finally asked to speak with a supervisor.
I then spoke to Hillary (ID #53446) and recited the same scenario. In addition, I also explained to Hillary that I only had my account open for three months. Hillary said that I still had to pay all of the above fees -- even though I had already paid an introductory fee of $199.00. Hillary also said that the amounts would keep being submitted to my checking account until they post. I already paid this company their inroductory fee of $199.00 and do not feel that I should pay them another $240.00 after I have cancelled my account with them.
Needless to say, I have incurred a number of fees towards my checking account and have been unable to resolve this situation.
