As a former intallation tech for Firstline, it is painfull for me to see the negative talk which is so abundant. However, the truth is many of the dishonest things mentioned regarding the company are accurate. The sales reps will tell you anything to get you to buy one of these alarms. Most reps aren't so bad, but the ones who actually did well selling had ery poor ethics. They told buyers that their alarms have smoke detectors built it the panel. Some go so far as to say that the landline comunication- as opposed to the cellular- can actually send signals if the phone line is cut. My job as a tech, was not to inform homeowners of the reality or truth, it was to keep buyers from cancelling. You can imagine how difficult it was for me to describe a mini smoke detector, or worse, how a cut phone line can acutally comunicate. I got very creative in learning how to support the lies of our sales reps. The alarm currently offered by Firstline is the Simon 3. In its day it was the best on the market, however 5 yrs later, like all technology, it is antiquated. However, the worst of all is how poorly these systems are installed. Most installation techs are so poorly trained that it is laugable to see pictures of the work they've done, you can see details at my page ((((ROR removed for security purposes))) then click on the firstline category on the right side of the page. -MIke Quality or Comedy Installations CLICK here to see why Rip-off Report, as a matter of policy, deleted either a phone number, link or e-mail address from this Report.

What about the monitoring that you would have to pay??? Sure, you can find ANY equipment for cheaper online and with the right research. You STILL had to pay for the equipment and installation where as Firstline is giving it to you for free. The simple fact is, with the Cellular card in the panel, we are the only ones that can offer that to you, not at a store or the internet. But you STILL have to pay for monitoring to get that to connect to the police, fire, and abulance. With Cellular technology you are looking at an average of forty to sixty a month. Those are all mainstream prices that you can check through ADT, Brinks, Monotronics and others. But I guess those simple facts were over looked by those who pay two hundred dollars when they could get it for free...
