Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

In July 2009 I paid Fitness Equipment Depot over $4000 for a commercial grade piece of fitness equipment. They assured me it would be delivered in around 6 weeks and I had checked them out on the Better Business Bureau, etc. and all seemed well.  It is now 10 months later and they refuse send the item or give me a refund. I have called them dozens of times, speaking from line employees up to managers.  Not one of them follows through on what they say will happen.       I wanted to buy a Precor AMT 100i from them. Their web site shows this item is "in stock" (www.fitnessplus.com) but they tell me privately they are unable to get these items in.   They also tell me they will send me a refund which they are refusing to send.

I'd advise every potential customer of Fitness Equipment Depot to walk...no run...away and never consider making a purchase from them.  You won't see your order or your money.   These people are thieves.

They create their own positive feedback.  This company will stop at nothing and will continue to steal from people.  They monitor this sight on a daily basis.  He can't pay his bills but he will pay a company to remove all negative feedback about him.

As Steve has said,we value both our customers and employees tremendously and take neither for granted. We have a very stringent s.o.p. for production and in order for a piece to make it out through our doors, three supervisors have to sign off in order for a piece to pass our final q.c.We invite any of our customers or potential customers to come down to our Bethpage facility and view our remanufacturing process. Our international customers can fly into either JFK or LaGuardia airports and we will make arrangements to pick them up.

As our business has grown tremendously in the past few years,so to has our workforce. We have recently had to part ways w/two mgrs and 3 warehouse personnel because they were failing to comply w/our strict production standards. We most certainly pay o.t. to those who work it as not doing so would be illegal. Our employees receive personal and sick days and vacation time is commensurate w/their tenure w/us.Anyone who has been inside our warehouse and production facilities can attest to the fact that it is both air conditioned and heated. We also have far more than 7 people employed in our production dept. as our payroll can attest.

If these ex-employees were doing their jobs properly and performing as if they valued our customers, they would all still be working w/us.They only have themselves to blame for their recent departures, but we will not let any uncaring individuals sabotage our reputation or disappoint our customers. These changes have allowed us to get our product back to the level we have always strived for in a very short amount of time since their departures. That is the level that our customers have grown to expect from us and is a level that all of us at Fitness Equipment Depot Worldwide have committed to attain or surpass.

For anyone who has never done business w/us before, please feel free to visit our facility so that you can witness our work first hand.If you are unable to do so,please visit the reference and testimonial section of our website,www.fitnessplus.com.

We can not stop cowards and liars from posting false statements on the internet because that is now the world we live in.We can however invite anyone out there who wishes to stop by our facility and witness our work and the environment it is performed in first hand.

Rebuttal to ex employee comments

Within the last 2 months our company has gone through a major internal restructuring of personnel and unfortunately to succeed in any business tough decisions on employees must be made in a timely manner to ensure the quality of our product and customer service remains in tact. It is obvious that this anonymous ex employee felt vindictive enough to post these unfound comments to try and seek revenge of this change in personnel. We take great pride in our work and do our very best to cultivate our employees to allow advancement in our organization that is rapidly growing. We have many team players and the employees that refused to buy into our business model were given every opportunity to do so through one on ones, corrective actions for them to succeed as long as there was a willingness on their part. This ex employee obviously chose to ignore our advice and recommendations and is now seeking every avenue to slander the company to justify his/her dismissal. Unfortunately in a warehouse setting elements will play a factor at times due to the nature of any warehouse business with high traffic. Loading dock doors always open for deliveries will bring down the temperatures at times but the warehouse is fully heated in the winter and air conditioned in the summer so proper attire has always been addressed to all new and existing employees to be able to comfortably cope with the elements. We always pay overtime to our hourly waged employees and most ask us to allow for more overtimes which we always accommodate so I do not know why this was even brought up. Yes, heavy equipment is moved daily but that is part of the job requirement described in every interview prior to hiring. However, we do have hand trucks, high/lows, forklifts etc to help minimize every load moved.

This is obviously written by someone who refuses to take responsibility for their inabilities to get the job done as requested and chose to justify his/her dismissal by utilizing a forum to act in a manner unbecoming of a professional.

WORST COMPANY OUT THERE, ABSOLUTELY OUTRAGEOUS!

to keep this short. the very short time that i worked for this company, all i could see was that they do not care one tiny bit for their costumers.

as an employee i was told to do what ever it took to make sure the equipment was shipped out on good appearance. it wasn't a problem whether it was working or not. as long as it made it out of the warehouse in one piece, it wasn't their problem.

also this "re manufacturing" process that they have, consists of only cleaning the equipment with some soap and painting the scratches off with normal spray cans.

all that is only on the costumer side. for us employees. installations do not have either HEATING!. OR AC.
so both winter and summer were brutal for all of us(5-7 employees do all the "re manufacturing tasks)
we do not get paid overtime, and were asked to move 800-1000 pound machinery with simple stone edge handtrucks.

my best advice. don't even consider this company as a provider of anything. your experience will be 1000% CRAP

After posting my complaint Raven at Fitness Equipment Depot called saying the company would sue me if I did not remove my post. All for letting people know about my experience with them.  Even though they don't deny what happened.  And even though there are e-mails, phone calls and other records to prove my complaint is legitimate. A company with integrity would apologize for putting their customer through so much, a company without integrity would get angry at their customer for expecting more.  Buyer beware.

The "option to wait"

#8Author of original report

Mon, July 26, 2010

At first I did take the option to wait from Fitness Equipment Depot (aka Fitness Plus). It was soon obvious this was a foolish decision so I asked for a refund. Here's what happened:

- They refused to refund my money - I mean they said they would but they never did it.

- I contacted the Better Business Bureau, who also asked them to refund my money. Months went by, the business eventually said they'd send a refund - but again refused to do it.

- I contacted the Attorney General of the State of Oregon, who told them to refund my money or face criminal and civil charges. This finally worked.

- This wasted a year for me - no money and no equipment. Plus the headache, time and expense of dealing with the problem.

Don't take my word for it, check them out before sending money!

- Check out my complaint with the Oregon Attorney General's office (check it out at www.doj.state.or.us/finfraud, then click on search for consumer complaints). Call them, ask questions.
- Or check it out on the BBB website - but get copies of the correspondence between me, the business and the BBB. Otherwise you will be lead to believe things are all peachy.

(Note that the BBB is funded by member businesses, so they consider my complaint 'resolved satisfactorily' since I got my money back in the end. I don't know of many people who would be satified by being lied to by a business for a year and having to jump through a bunch of hoops just to get their money back.)

I ordered a remanufactured Cybex Classic Abductor and also an Adductor from Fitness Equipment Depot last year and had no issues with them. They were friendly and kept me involved in the process step by step. I find it surprising that you had such crazy issues as this is not my experience with them. I got my units and they looked and felt completely new. As a matter of fact, I will be doing business with them again when I am in the market for new equipment.

I ordered several ellipticals and a functional trainer for my gym and had no issues with them. They were friendly and kept me updated with the progress of my machines' remanufactures. I didn't experience anything like what this customer said about Fitness Equipment Depot.
