Finding a Refrigerator Repair Man is as easy as opening up the phone book or doing a quick google search. However, not all repairmen are created equal.

This is my story:

It was a regular day in good old Eugene Oregon. My wife and I woke up, brushed our teeth and were getting ready to start breakfast when we noticed a trail of orange colored liquid escaping from the underbelly of our fridge.

"Something must have leaked." I said. It was not something leaking, but rather everything was leaking creating a mud like rust colored liquid.

Not a big deal as we have another fridge that is rarely used in the garage.

We transported all the food out of the broken one into the other and continued our day. Later in the day my wife set an appointment with a business called "Fix it 4 less". The name sounded like what we were looking for. We wanted our fridge fixed for less. Perfect!

The appointment was set between 7pm and 9pm. That was a little strange, but nevertheless it was going to be fixed 4 less. Around 10:30pm our little, loud, unprofessional repairman showed up. He knocked on the door and on my opening, stepped in. He looked annoyed to be out so late, and asked me to show him to the fridge.

He made no mention of being an hour and a half late and showing up at 10:30. My wife and I were a bit unnerved by his tardiness and outright disregard for the late hour.

We were in the middle of watching the Olympic games, which he promptly denigrated as a waste of time when there is war in Georgia. Letting us know his conservative political leanings and being very aggressive to make a point about God knows what? Wasn't he here to fix the fridge? I didn't realize I was a radio talk show host who was interviewing the popular politically galvanizing refrigerator repairman. I remained neutral and friendly the entire time. I finally had to ask him to leave around 11:20 because he wouldn't stop talking and had no social understanding of his rude and inconsiderate behavior.

He charged me $95 for coming to my home late and spending no more than 10 mins. On determining the problem my fridge had. The other hour was spent apparently campaigning for governor (for which he will not get my vote).

He also charged me a ballpark on what he thought the part would cost. I paid him everything upfront against my better judgment because I just wanted him out of my house.

About 10 days later we received a phone call that the part was in and he could be at our house on Saturday between 7pm and 9pm. Odd. However, we still need this fridge fixed. This time though I was not going to be so flexible with my time. I let my wife know if he is late again we will have to reschedule.

Of course the reader knows he was late again. But instead of apologizing for his lack of punctuality, he began to yell at my wife on the phone. Letting her know how much we were inconveniencing him by rescheduling. I was so shocked by this behavior I grabbed the phone from my wife, to protect her from his verbal assault.

I was promptly hung up on without getting a word in.

I was so upset by his behavior, I called my bank to cancel the check I'd written him 10 days before. However, before I put this into motion with my bank, I called his office to let him know my intentions. I informed him that he could simply call and apologize to my wife and make everything right and we could reschedule for the day. I gave him 24 hours to respond.

The next day I still had not received a call. I called my bank and put the stop payment through. About 3 hours later I received a call from Mr. Repair Man.

Hello?

He began to threaten me with small claims court, calling me names, yelling at the top of his lungs into the phone. I was not able to have a conversation with him at all because of his inability to communicate with other human beings. He hung up on me again. I called him back and let him know I had no problem writing another check for the services he provided, but that I was refusing the part and refusing any further service. More Yelling and once again hung up on.

So that is my story of working with Fix it 4 less in Eugene Oregon. I suggest you pick someone else out of the phone book.

Oh and by the way the part he found for me he was charging me 90 dollars for. I found the same part on www.repairclinic.com for $65. Total rip-off.

Thanks for listening.

Fix it 4 Less - Rebuttal to complaint

This report is from 2008.  Fix it 4 Less Appliance Repair has been serving the Eugene/Springfield community since 1991.  That is over 20 years!  In 20 years I have had over 20,000 customers. In all of that time isn't it interesting to note that there only a few of these type of complaints?  Most of my customers are happy customers.  Satisfied customers don't usually take the time to go to a website like this  and post a good review. They just don't. There are numerous reasons. There might be privacy issues. They might not want to leave their name, address, and phone number.  I know I didn't. But basically there is just no motivation for them to take the time necessary to post a good review. The only people that come to this website and others like it are looking for revenge.  They are looking to get even.  Actually, they are looking for a way to get ahead, and sometimes they don't even know why. And yes, they are keeping score too!  Sometimes they just want to hurt someone with whom they disagree. One thing to know about this website and others like it, is that there is never any independent verification of anything that anyone says.  Just like there is no independent verification that anything I am telling you is true.  This website should be ashamed of itself. And they should be ashamed of profiting from all of this maliciousness and innuendo too! There is more bad that comes out of this enterprise, than any good that possibly comes as a result of it! Do you have any idea just how many innocent people have had there reputations trashed and ruined by false and unproven allegations over the internet? Do you know that I don't even know who the complainer is in all of these years? And I can't find out either. If there is a legitimate complaint, then the correct avenue of redress should be to go to that person in private, and try to resolve the issue in private, not to blast it all over the internet.  Talk about maliciousness!  You know there are usually two sides to every story.  I just thought you should know this one.  I just got a computer and I am learning how to type, and I noticed the reference to this review in my email.  Whoever sent me this should also be ashamed of themself.
