I began to follow Kellon Deryck online after seeing that he designed a wig for Amber Rose. Then I discovered that he'd styled Blac Chyna's wigs as well. His handy work on Instagram seemed perfect, with wig installations that looked, well, flawless. I decided to contact the company to have them create a wig for me.
This proved more difficult than I thought, because they do not return phone calls. After emailing them, I received a response from A'Ishah. I was given a day and time in which she would call me to discuss the process of ordering a wig. She didn't followup, so I reached out to her via email and eventually ended up speaking with her. I was given the option of flying to Atlanta for the wig installation or ordering a wig by phone and having it shipped to me.
Since I live over 2000 miles from Georgia and was not able to travel at that time, I chose to pay $650 for a full lace wig plus an additional $100 (all of which is non-refundable) to have the wig customized by Kellon Deryck which was to consist of plucking the hairs from the hairline and bleaching the knots. Convinced that I would received a wig of the same quality as the ones I saw on Instagram, I made the purchase and awaited my wig.
I was originally told that the wig required a 3-4 week turnaround. After five weeks and no wig, I contacted A'Ishah. I was told that the wig would be mailed the next day. After another week and no wig, I contacted her again and asked why she hadn't kept her word and mailed the wig. I was offered their utmost apologies and told that I would receive the wig in two days. When I received the wig, it was far from what I expected.
First of all, if you order a "customized" wig from Kellon Deryck, you WILL NOT receive a wig that looks anything like what you see in his Instagram. The wig I receveived was very thick and coarse, and the hair had been harshly plucked from the hairline making it sparse and unnatural looking. The knots WERE NOT bleached. The only bleaching was done by the manufacturer, and it left very dark knots. And anyone who wears lace wigs knows that bleaching is key, because it hides the knots and makes the hair appear as though it is growing from the scalp.
I immediately emailed A'Ishah and expressed my dismay and disappointment. I was told that every who'd ever received that wig loved it. And the fact that I didn't only proved that I didn't know anything about lace wigs.. I've worn wigs since 2008. I know when I wig is of good quality.
Bottom line: DO NOT order a wig from Kellon Deryck expecting to get what you see on Instagram. What you'll get is a stock lace wig that you can buy from any Chinese manufacturer for half the amount. And the wig will have all of the hair plucked from the hairline in an attempt to make it natural looking. This will ruin the wig. And he will not bleached the knots. If you buy a wig from him, expect to bleach your own knots and spend a lot of time removing hair because the density is TOO thick to be appear natural. It WILL NOT look like the wigs on Instagram.. at all. Please, save your money and avoid the headache and disappointment.
