Florida Auto Rental/Continental Rent A Car These guys want me to pay for scratches that were already there before I rented Fort Lauderdale Florida
I reserved a full sized car because I needed a car big enough for 4 coworkers while on business in Florida. Continental (AKA Ace rental) was the cheapest, so I thought I'd save my company some money. The only full size car available had a number of dents and scratches on it, and the trunk was difficult to close because the rubber seal was halfway pulled off. The agent said it was the only full sized car they had so we took it. The agent who delivered the car to us agreed that there were a number of dents, and we walked carefully around the car as he indicated the location of the dents and scratches on the damage form. In particular, there was one big scratch on the passenger front door.
I signed the form and we took the car. Unfortunately, I did not write down the name of the representative, as I did not think there was a reason to. Also, although I was unaware of it at the time, a copy of the car damage form was not included in my rental agreement.
When I returned to the airport, I realized that I didn't have a copy of the damage form, and when the agent produced a form which indicated that there were almost no scratches on the car, my jaw dropped. I'd been had...
Don't rent a car from these clowns, but if you have to, make sure you get a copy of the damage waiver form before you take the car.
