Florida Technical College Instructors get treated like crap! Orlando, Florida
As a current instructor, a bunch of us are not happy. First, we had the regional director of admissions come to a faculty meeting and yell, yes I said yell at us for bad attendance. New Flash! recruit better and less drama students and they will show up.
Second, we are told our salaries are topped out. We work long hours and dedicate ourselves and this is the thanks we get! But in the meantime, tuition has gone up and I am sure all you administrators have gotten raises and bonuses and we get s**t on!
We as teachers may leave as the job market is getting better. Another reason you should retain us and as we put up with a lot.

I can not believe the things I have seen in the last 8 months... between what the students tell me about financial aid and the way career services "helps".
the way the management comes down on us for even the small things is demeaning. we are trying to help the students the best we can and between the meetings and bullsh!t we have to put up with it is getting to much for me and my husband to take. I think that us needing to call students when they do not come in is way out of line. who pays for my phone? who pays for my time doing it? when I went in for a raise they told me I was topped out and that I would have to wait for a full time position to open up. Hey here's a clew stop hiring your family and make room for some other people just because I don't speak Spanish don't hold that against me. I think that if we are going to call the students that don't want to come in why can't we do more for the ones that show up in class and not just walk around the school and cause problems. there are some real trouble makers in this school that steal from the staff, smoke pot by the dumpsters and do nothing but harass the instructors and some of use feel intimidated and when we go in and talk to the managers it is us that is told to make changes. in a real work environment people coming onto women is not allowed.
