Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

To anyone out there that wants to send there child or yourself to school I would not recommend Florida Technical College. They are just in it for the money! I attended this school and had a wonderful experience and then sent my daughter there what a nightmare that was.

She started with the business management course, She went right into the access software program without intro to computer but this is not the worst part the "professor"( nothing more that a business owner and minister Karen Sims). Could not even teach the class because she did not know the material so they had another teacher come in half way through class because the students were so confused.

Just a bit of information FTC is a national accredited school not a regional make sure you do your homework on the difference before you spend your hard earned money.

What I don't understand why they would hire a teacher that does not know the material then have to pay another teacher to come in so the other teacher (Karen Sims) sits back in class an observe while she ate and text on her phone and when the lights were turned out for power point lecture she would start to fall asleep.

" Really"

On two separate occasions my daughter went to the Dean of FTC school and the problem was swept under the rug and nothing was done. Know if your a parent and you sign the financial agreement and your young adult was having this kind of problem at school you wouldn't want to know what is going on that you would not call to fine out what is going on.

I have called several times left messages to the Dean of FTC Burnidet Cippriani-Major and the Director of FTC Gab Garcetts no one has called me back and so I have not told them that my daughter and her friend that were taking the same course that they would not be coming back there and why.

Also because I trusted the admissions  recruiter Elvin Gomez who told me if we had any problems to come and see him, so I did and the Dean of FTC shut him done and he won't even return my call. Also and added piece that my daughter only has her certificate of completion from high school so Elvin told us about Keystone National High School, come to fine out that it is a national accredited school and that is not worth the paper that it's written on because a regional accredited school does not accept it so i spent 350.00 for nothing.

And so I have a very disappointed daughter because she wants to go to school and can't until she gets her H.S, diploma. Not to mention this is the worst customer service and college experience for one young adult can take.

So my question to the President of FTC Dave Ruggieri why do you allow these practices happen at your school?

I just need to say a few more things at the begging they say the FTC stands for a Family That Cares how untrue with the experience we have had and many more like us. And when I graduated my diploma was given to me in a file folder that you can buy at Office Depot how cheesy is that when you spend all that money to get you hard earned diploma or degree in a file folder. Also not to mention that the school promotes that they will help you fine a job but of course it not guaranteed you will get one which I understand that , but the problem is is that they don't even call you to help send out your resume unless you call and pest them. And I still have not found a job on my own or through FTC in the field that I studied Medical Billing and Coding what is not mentioned is that you have to have 3 to 5 years experience or luck is really on your side, with the new Electronic Medical Record (EMR) that most of the coding is done through that because of the software for EMR does this for the doctors offices.

I will never recommend this school to anyone that I know. You have serious problems at this school that needs to be addressed with your home office in Porto Rico.

that is a crock answer. I wished they would just admit that they hired someone that is not qualified and that is a personal friend of the associate dean. The guy that was there before was very good and FTC should of tried harder to keep him. We as students were not happy with him leaving but as the above report stated, he was driven out by Bernadette (Associate Dean) and Gabe (Director).  FTC tends to do that with good instructors. There are only two good ones there now, Crawford and Fiero. The others come and go as the turnover rate their is very high. Look at more reputable schools if you are going to attend a college. Valencia and Seminole are great alternatives without the hefty price tag.

To the OP and the Owner of FTC:

Any "college" that let you graduate with such a poor command of the English language has done you a grave disservice.  That alone is reason enough not to attend.

So many student are talking about this site on the campus that I thought I would say something. I agree that FTC did make a bad hire in Professor Sims. She is not very knowledgable and is a friend of the associate dean. That is why she is still here. In talking to other students they should both be gone. And yes the repeated phone calls is you are out for a few days gets on my nerves. We are adults and know that we need to attend school but things happen in life.

So if you are looking at attending FTC think again. They will call you all the time, give you instructors that are not qualified, and charge a hefty amount with credits that do not transfer to other schools.

Our recommendation, go to a community college and save yourself from all the headaches that FTC will cause you.

this site was brought to my attention as it is the latest buzz on the FTC campus. Yes, as a student at FTC I am not very happy with the quality of my education. I was lied to and feel hostage to the school as if you drop you owe a balance. I also do not like the repeated phone calls from the staff if you do not show up to class. That to me is an indication that they are all about money. Mr. Ruggieri you stated that this student had an appointment with Gabe, well if no one returned the phone call then how could such an appointment be made?

Most of us are not happy students at FTC and would not recommend anyone going here. They will say anything to get you in and once in you are a nothing to them. The post above about team teaching is out there. Other classes do not do that. FTC just does not want to admit that they hired an instructor that does not know the subject matter. I have not learned anything from Sims and she always seemed lost in the classes that she has taught. I never had the guy that was here before but others have said he was very good. I guess he got smart and left while the getting was good.

Do not waste your money or time on this school!

Greetings,

I find the remarks that were written in the original posting to be true. I am a business student and the so called "team teaching" is a joke. Karen Sims in my opinion is a terrible instructor that has no clue what she is doing. All of us have complained and nothing has been done. So bringing in another instructor because the first one is lost is an understatement. Who interviewed her for the position?

In the original post this is what was said and we all agree!

What I don't understand why they would hire a teacher that does not know the material then have to pay another teacher to come in so the other teacher (Karen Sims) sits back in class an observe while she ate and text on her phone and when the lights were turned out for power point lecture she would start to fall asleep.
" Really"

If FTC was doing a great job they would never be on this board in the first place. I as well as many other students are not happy with FTC and wished we had gone somewhere else. This sugar coating that they post on her is not worth anything as all they care about is MONEY.

FTC had some great instructors but Bernadette (Dean) and Gabe (Director) have driven them out of the school. THe business program was great a year ago but when Sims was hired to replace the guy that left who by the way, had been there for a long time, who was an awesome teacher and did not need any "team teaching" as he knew his stuff hands down. FTC lost a great instructor in him. We understand why he left as he was ridiculed and yelled at by Gabe and Bernadette. Another reason not to attend FTC!

I am sorry you cannot find a job, you do not need experience, you have had interviews and have failed to secure a position , we cannot and will not accept responsibility for that. You came to school and graduated.
You have the skills, just like the classmates you graduated with, same school, same teachers, same books, same support, they got jobs, you and I both know that is the truth - you may not like the instructors, but you are in no position to judge, you are a student Diana, you sat in the same classrooms with other students who like you made it after graduation. Your daughters situation was the same, other students in the same class loved and learned, and yes with professor whomever, and yes we team teach in business we think that actually helps the student learn business from different perspectives.
Now Diana, there are no "practices" at the school that I need to address. I am sorry that you are unhappy but take all this negative energy and try putting more positive energy into getting a job - if you want my help, show back up at the school with your current resume and i will sit you down with Audrey in placement - if that doesn't work for you there is nothing more I can do for you. If you want to waste your time on "Rip Off-Report" then so be it. And for the record Danielle, it isn't us that have a problem, if you want to move forward you know how to reach me. If your daughter needs to get a high school diploma than she needs to return to high school or pass a state mandated GED program, we can refer her to one if she needs help.
And Diana, Mr. Garces scheduled an appointment with both you and your daughter yesterday at 9:00 a.m. that you failed to show for, that was at your request, so once more, I say, if you want help then do your part, take advantage of the  adult solutions out there for you to use, people who can help, but you need to again be a part of the solution, not the problem, you are a graduate, use that to your advantage.
