On the 4th of July I went to Ford of Orange because Gene in the internet sales department quoted me $ 500.00 below invoice on a new 2003 Ford Focus ZX3 Power Premium in French Blue Metalic.

I went to the dealership and they did have the color I wanted, how ever on personal inspection I realized I was not sure of the color but continued with the credit application.

I realized I did not have perfect credit but after Gene insulted me in regards to my old car, and quoted a "worse case" 22% interest I still went to Rebecca in finance.

Rebecca quoted me 13.9% interest but if I purchased gap insurance at $ 500.00 and a Ford extended warranty at $ 1895.00 she could get me 9.9% interest. I did sign the contract but did not take possesion of the car! I felt I was being Ripped Off!

I was informed by a friend who is a finance manager at another Ford dealership that the deal Rebecca offered me was illegal. 1. You CAN NOT offer a lower interest rate based on buying something else. 2. Gap insurance was not needed because I was putting 30% down. 3. Why would I pay $ 1895.00 for Ford extended warranty when Ford offers this package at $ 1200.00 MSRP?

After receiving the above revelation on Saturday morning, I was so upset. When I called to cancelled my order I spoke to Gene in the internet department and had seen his true colors by the language he used. I would never refer Ford of Orange to anyone. If you can get business by being honest, why lie?

First, remember that everything is negotiable. You may qualify by credit score for 5%, but if a dealer can get 18% from you he pockets most of the difference. The same with pricing, stickers are "suggested" and not required. You can be charged over sticker. Sometimes way over. As far as warranties and service contracts, prices are negotiable too. Now, the manager will look at the profit in the overall deal. If he sells the car at near cost, and doesn't make much on the finance, he will try to rip you off on the contracts. This is actually not bad because while you may have to live with the negotiated price and negotiated interest rate, you can cancell the service contracts after the deal goes through (see your state law, California 60 days on a new car). Be sure to do it properly (in writing). If you finance the car the money will go to the finance company, so don't put down an extra downpayment to cover it. Your payments won't go down, but you will pay off your vehicle musch faster.

Rocco I am going to tell you some info that your scummy car dealer would not want me to tell you. First, as far as $500 under invoice. That, any Ford dealer can do. It's not like they are doing you a big favor. Come on, you are looking at buying a Ford Focus. It is not like you want the only Thunderbird in their showroom. Next, about Gene insulting you about your trade, he was doing that so he could plant some low numbers in your head as to the true value of your car. They make more money if they con you into taking less then what your car is worth, then when they sell it on their "Sled Lot" they will ask way more then what it is worth. About the 22% interest rate. They try to serve up a high rate, then make you think they are doing you a favor once they hand you a lower rate in the "F&I Clowns" office. It's kinda like slapping you in the face then handing you a big cold beer. Giving you the bad, then the good even though their good sucks. Next we have the subject of the better interest rate if you buy an extended warranty. Your buying an extended warranty has nothing to do with what interest rate a bank will give you. "F&I Clowns" get paid big money if they con you into a sucker deal when selling you ANYTHING that they try to sell you. You have to remember that ALL car dealers employees are trained to PUMP MONEY out of you. Paying a Price of $1895. For an extended warranty is a Rip Off in it's self. most dealers pay $350 to $500 at tops for a warranty, but want you to pay a sucker price of $1895, That sucks! Yes, I know that the "F&I Clown" was so nice when trying to talk you into signing all of their documentation. It is part of their plan. You know, make you feel good, make you like them, make you think they like you, make you think that they are doing something nice by getting you a lower rate then your "Lot Shark" told you. It all makes me sick. Don't let any car dealer's "Lot Shark" or any of their "F&I Clowns" bend you over for some extra money. Next I think you and all who read this will enjoy reading about the Ford Focus. These are some things that I though I should dig up for you to read. Now when going to these URL's keep this in mind. Most web sites will not post the bad things that car owners are having to deal with. They only want you to read the good stuff so you will buy what ever they are selling. It's called "CENSORSHIP" my friends. Remind me someone PLEASE to thank Al Gore for inventing the internet. If you want to read the troubles car owners are having, you need to have the Rip Off Report at the top of your Favorites list. We here at www.ripoffreport.com want you to know what the car owners are saying. It is our job to so see to it that you get to read what the consumers really feel and what they really think before you spend your hard earned money. So copy and paste the below into your browser and read the Rip Off Reports on what people are saying about the Ford Focus. http://www.badbusinessbureau.com/results.asp?q1=ALL&q5=&submit2=Search%21&q4=&q6=ford+focus&q3=&q2=&q7=&searchtype=0 You might like read this one. http://asp.usatoday.com/money/autos/2002-11-05-focus-probe_x.htm click this one and read about the problems consumers are having with their ford Focus http://www.autosafety.org/article.php?did=297&scid=37 Remember that most of your newspaper articles will never be about what troubles consumers are having with a car or a car dealer. They do NOT want to bite the big hands that are feeding them. The big hands are the auto industry. Rocco I would like you to visit the following web sites. I would like you to return to YOUR Rip Off Report and post your thoughts as to what product or service you feel these web sites sell to car dealers. www.tewart.com www.joeverde.com www.biggross.com www.davidlewis.com www.hibeamauto.com www.dealerdoctor.com www.grantcardone.com www.stukertraining.com www.paulcummings.com www.carsalestraining.net I can make the above list much bigger if you want more to visit.
