Fox Run Apartments, Peterson Co. TOTAL LACK OF FAIR HOUSING AT FOX RUN. Shawnee Kansas
My girlfriend and I needed to find an apartment very soon. We went to the Fox Run Apartments and inquired about a one bedroom apartment. When the leasing Agent relized my girlfriend was pregnant, they denied us the one bedroom and steered us to a two bedroom that we couldn't afford.
Feeling stuck in the situation we signed the papers and are now struggling to pay rent and feed ourselves and our baby. If they would read the Fair housing Amendment act of 1988 under Famial Status they would know that was a violation. We attempted to bring the matter to them hopeing they would rectify this, but we were told that it was their policy that was approved by HUD of fair housing.
How is it possible that a Federal Law can be underminded like that? What if our baby didn't make it through delivery we would be stuck in an apartment we couldn't afford for no good reason. And our Government wonders why young Families are struggling.
