My name is David. I recently had Frank from Franks european 731 w. whittier blvd. La habra ca 90631 562-694-4434 order a supercharger kit for me from Active AutoWerkes. I paid Frank $6300 for parts and labor $5500 for the supercharger kit and $800 for the labor. I paid him 2 months ago for everything. He now is telling me that his wife got into his bank account and took all the money that I paid him. He has been telling that the part was ordered. I called the company active autowerkes and a employee by the name of Gene there told me that Frank called for a qoute but did not put any money down for the part. Frank then told Active autowerkes if I call to just tell me some parts are not ready.

I tried to call Frank today and tell him I want my money back, he then said that he was getting tired of my s**t and hung up on me. I dont have any receipts, The payment was made by my moms credit card.

Rebuttal to David's comments about Frank's Europen which I do not believe are true

This person seems to have an ax to grind and just because this is posted does not make it true. At best, there may be some partial truth.

Frank is a person. He, like all the rest of us, is not perfect but in the many years he has been my mechanic I have found his prices to be fair and his workmanship excellent. I have especially appreciated the way he is honest about what needs to be done and NEVER tries to get you to fix something that is not in need of repair.

The only problem I ever had was not getting my car back as early as anticipated but that was because of a delay in getting the part over a holiday weekend.

Several people I know personally have also been taking their autos to Frank's European for a number of years and they are as satisfied with his service as I am.

I went to Franks European to have an engine replaced and a supercharger installed all at the same time. $4350 for the engine and $6300 for the supercharger. I never went back after getting ripped the 1st time. I was ripped off, I have gotten all the money for the supercharger back allready. Now I have got all the information to get the money back for the engine that was not replaced. I called Frank last week and now he is telling me he wants to give me $4000 at the end of this month, and he is now telling that the engine was not replaced but he rebuilt it. The engine was not rebuilt, because the cylinder head was never taken off the block. WHY WOULD I MAKE THIS UP?

After posting your original report that this shop had kept $6300 of your money and done nothing, you claim you returned to the same shop and gave him another $4250 to replace an engine??? I'm having a hard time buying that. You're either a bogus poster or incredibly stupid.

Engine not replaced

I recently contacted North America BMW and was able to get the original serial number for the engine that was in my car when I bought it . I then went to my old mechanic and we were able to find and match the engine block serial numbers. I have allready contacted my credit card about the engine and they are investigating. Franks european Auto is the biggest ripp off ever. he took $4350 from me for an engine that was not replaced, and $6300 for a supercharger that was never purchased or installed.

I took my car to Franks European Auto because I drove though a flooded intersection and my engine sucked in water through my ram air induction. When I dropped off my car Frank was allready telling me my engine is probably gone. Later that day I get a call from Frank telling me I need a new engine and it will cost me $4250 parts and labor. About a week later I recieve another call from Frank telling me my engine has been replaced and my car is ready. I recently took my car to 3 other mechanics and they are telling me that my engine has not been replaced. I have disputed all of the money I paid with my credit card company. total of $10,700 dollars. Also Frank recently bought a new/used 740 bimmer. Frank will make you think he is your friend and then RIPP YOU OFF blind.

Receipts are important

I can't imagine shelling out for something that expensive and not keeping a receipt. Usually, when you get the "my wife ran away with the money" story, that means you'll never see it again. You may still be within the time limit to dispute the transaction with your mom's credit card company, have her call them and start the dispute process ASAP! If you're still within the time limit, they will reverse the charge and credit your mom's account. That is one of the major protections you get when purchasing via credit card. If you're out of the credit card dispute window, your only recourse is legal. Now, without the receipt that may be a problem but you might prevail if your mother will provide you with a record of the transaction from her credit card. Whether or not the judge will accept that is dependent on the judge, but it's worth a shot. I'd recommend filing in small claims court (no lawyer required). The limit in CA is $7500, so that should work.
