My wife received a phone call from Freedom Life Insurance of America after requesting information about health insurance online. She was lied to and mislead concerning their coverage. They told her they only had fifteen policies left and she would have to sign up now or lose out on a great health insurance policy. No deductible and $175 monthly premium. She took the bait and gave them her debit card number. They took $205 out of our bank account (this included a $30 membership fee). What they didn't tell her was that she was buying a fixed indemnity plan... basically, junk insurance. The plan was administered by an outfit called United Benefit Plans (partnered with Unified Caring Association). We called the very next day to have the policy cancelled... they told us that they would refund the $175 premium but the $30 membership fee was non-refundable. They gave us a conformation number and told us our plan was cancelled and no longer in effect.

It's only been one day since the cancellation and we can only wait and see if they credit our bank account. I've called the bank and explained our predicament... the bank was very understanding and told us to wait a few days to see if the credit shows up. In the meantime they suggested we get a new debit card with a new number. They will dispute any further attempted withdrawals by United Benefit Plans. This is a predatory company... they talk fast and mislead people about their 'health insurance' plans. They tell you're getting a full coverage plan when in reality they're selling you a fixed indemnity plan. Stay away from this company! I have also filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and the BBB of Texas... I also plan to file a complaint with the Texas State Attorney General's Office.
