We went to a Galaxy MAll seminar and bought into their line, believed it was something we could make a go of. They gave us only a couple hours to think about it, but not enough time to do research into them. We decided that they were probably legit, so we ran to the bank and gave them $500 down and have been paying $184 a month since last July. We thought we were getting a good deal, since they told us normally, web hosting costs thousands of dollars a year for basic fees. Not knowing any better, I believed it. I spent a lot of time on the internet researching, as they said I should do. What I found instead, was that the information they sold me, and the prices they quoted me, could be had for free or for very little. I was mislead regarding the costs actually available on the internet. They must know few of us in those seminars aren't going to have huge sites! What they quoted us was for huge corporations, not the little guys like who all go to their seminars. Their responses to our questions for help were painfully slow, it sometimes took a week to get an answer. I also could not get an answer to a question regarding problems we had with our site. I asked point blank about 4 times and got side-track answers. Their on-line chat help was slow and sometimes no one would actually appear to help. I spent a lot of time sitting in front of the computer with nothing happening! I was at the saem time laid of fo the winter, so I am not making money, and paying daycare so I could invest the time to make this happen. What I found instead, was that many of the marketing options they suggest require fess which were outlanishly high, and the payments going to Galaxy Mall were almost too much for us. So, there was no way to take advantage of some of those options. But I wasn't feeling too secure about those anyway, seemed more like another take on consumers. The more I searched, the more I came across information that indicated I was paying outrageous amounts for informatiuon that was free on the internet! They don't hold any marketing secrets! They were banking on the fact that the rest of us hadn't gone that far and weren't that serious so wouldn't know that. They were right. They also did not inform us up front that when we use Authorize Net for real time credit card processing, that on top of the fees they have cahrged for Authorize NEt, Authorize NEt charged us $25/month! So we were really paying $209/month for a site that try as I did, got an average of 4 hits per day. They told us at the seminar that 2% of all hits will generate a sale. OUr percentage has been .004%. We had a total of 3 sales out of over 800 visitors! Our product is sellable, the man who we are in joint venture with does pretty well through his hard copy catalogs and has local business clientele and gets a fair amount of national sales through other means. His products do sell, but not through Galaxy Mall. I am angry at the quality of service, slow response, lac of technical support when we need it (they are only available M-F during hours which seem to change). They did not mention other costs involved, and did not present an honest pitch about real costs of other internet hosts.
