Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I slipped in water at work fractured my right ulna June 5th.   Gallagher Bassett is the worker's comp carrier who I've not been able to speak with since June 7th.  The company sent me to their selected Ortho doctor on June 9  who provided a brace and a work restriction desk duties only.  Returned to work and was forced to continue typing 8 hours a day.  Mid-July started contacting Gallagher to advise my condition was getting worse and wanted a second opinion which is my legal right in North Carolina but couldn't get anyone to return my calls. I retained an attorney in August and Gallagher has so far not accommodated any requests.   I was released from Gallagher's ortho doctor who requested for surgery Sept 1st and that too was ignored.  I requested to my job I just couldn't continue typing they too refused  to remove me from work without a note saying I can't type so was forced to pay out of pocket for a private doctor to evaluate my condition who immediately wrote me a note to the company placing me off of work until proper medical and surgery is provided on 9/22.  On 9/25 I was placed on Family Medical Leave without pay.

I now have zero income and Gallagher has not approved any workers comp salary, has not approved my 2nd opinion or any other medical care.  It's now going on 6 mths I still have a broken ulna and two damaged finders and nerve damage on the side of my hand.  I'm right hand dominant and have no way of making an income.  I can't file a lawsuit as worker's comp is protected by the state and it possible that it can take 3-6 months for a workers comp hearing to be available which was requested by my attorney in mid-September due to the lack of response to my attorney for approval to see an independent doctor from a list provided to Gallagher.  These people should not be in business overseeing the medical care of injured people.    I should have recovered from my injury within 4-6 weeks but being forced to work my bone didn't heal and created injury to the fingers that rely on the ulna.  How can a company get away with this type of treatment?  So far this has cost 6 thousand of my own salary and it continues to grow.  Injured people might not be able to sue worker's comp but we should be able to put a stop to companies such as Gallagher not doing their job and only has an interest in saving their clients money.
