Gallagher Bassett Mother Nature?? Unfair decision. Oak Brook Terrace Illinois
I was badly stung by fire ants at a local golf course. There were no red flags in the area. I left the country the next day, but found I needed medical assistance. The doctor found I was highly allergic to the venom of the fire ant and treatment over the next 7 days amounted to $3186.00+ change. Because I was out of the country my medicare & insurance will not pay.
My claim has been denied. The reason? To quote - "We are not responsible for where Mother Nature puts the ants." Did you ever hear such a thing? Does this mean if a hurricane takes off my roof, my insurance can deny my claim because Mother Nature did it and they are not responsible???
I am a senior citizen 85 years old and I live on a fixed income. For me to pay this $3200.00 will create a hardship. Someone told me this company is nationwide, which only means to me, is that they can rip people off "nationwide". The sad thing is, all I wanted was for the bill to be paid. I was NOT seeking a 6 figure settlement, or anything like that. I guess it doesn't pay to be a "nice" guy anymore.

I can not see what Gallagher Bassett did wrong here? I worked for a golf course and golf is an at will sport and the course is not liable for any injuries that occurred while on the course. Golf course employees can not go over a course inch by inch to see if there are any fire ants or other inscets or animals on the course at all times. Maybe there was not a red flag on that hole because the course was notified about the inscets in the location. Again sorry but I can not see why Gallagher Bassett or the Golf Course should have paid for your medical bills?

Photos show how my legs were infected and swollen. I spent 4-6 hours every day in the medical facility. I could not go out in the sun because of the medication given me, I had to stay off my feet, no alcohol, no walking or exercise. This was supposed to be a vacation - hardly that. All this info was given to Gallagher Bassett but old Mother Nature got the blame.
