Gary Schneider the Handyman put fliers in the community where a friend of my lives. He was a one shop handyman who did wallpaper Removal, Faux Painting, Electrical and Plumbing. Because of my busy schedule I felt that this is exactly what we were looking for. I called him and he returned my call in a timely fashion. He gave us a free estimate and made a good impression on both my husband and myself. He faxed us a professional proposal outlining everything he was going to do and how much each job was going to cost. I was very exciting about the belligio paint samples that he did and he really seemed quite knowledgeable in what he was doing. He was licensed and insured and we have his numbers on his business card. We asked him for references which he provided and we called and they were all favorable.

We hired him for a price of $1725.00 and gave him cash of $480.00 for his paint and supplies. He showed up every day on time and his work seemed very good. When he finished, I made the mistake of not going over every detail of his work, but unfortunately I did not. What I saw looked good so we paid him the balance that was due and he left. However, 15 minutes later I begain to discover things that I really did not see before he left. Some of it, I would never have discovered until a day later. He never painted behind the toilet or fauxed underneath the vanity. The medicine cabinet was put on backwards but being all glass one would never discover this until I began to put my belongs away. As I looked around every corner where there was tile was not finished off properly. When I called him 15 minutes after he left and got his voicemail, I began to think then I was in trouble. My husband said it was a holiday weekend so to just wait and he would call me back. I shoud have gone with my instincts and stopped payment on my check and boy would I have seen how quickly he would have called me and come over to finish the job properly. However, I did not and after many many calls to him he finally called back. When I told him what I had discovered he admitted to remembering that he had not fauxed the vanity. He did not remember anything else and when I told me what I discovered that was done incorrectly he told me that he was not going to come back and spend 1/ day at my house. I told him that I did not have a time clock but he needed to come back and finish the job properly for which he was paid for. He told me he would call me that night but never did. My husband made many calls to him and finally he called back and set a date to come back and correct all of this. He never showed up!!! This is a classic case of LET THE BUYER BE WARE AND HE TOOK THE MONEY AND RAN !!!!! I hope I have learned a good lesson from my expensive experience and if one person reads my story and learns from it, it will have been worth my effort to write it.
