Gateway Computers ripoff North Sioux City South Dakota
I purchased a Gateway notebook computer from Gateway Computers on or about 9/21/04. They shipped me a system I did not order. I fought with them for days and finally got them to send the system I ordered. When I got that one, the video went out and I could not use it. I fought with them again for days and FINALLY got someone to tell me they'd take the system back and refund my money. Well, I called them and they have the computer I sent back and they told me it would be 10 to 14 MORE business days before I'd receive my refund. They have had over $3,000.00 of my money for more than 60 days and I have not had a computer for this time. I am filing this complaint because I do not beleive or trust them and I know I will have to fight with them again. I have never dealt with a more incompetent, dishonest group of people in all of my 50 years.

It's been awhile since you last updated this, so I have to assume it's still an outstanding issue. Right now, my best suggestion is for you to file a suit in Small Claims Court. The reason why I say this is that you have waited more than a reasonable amount of time, especially in this day and age of computers, for a refund of your money. This company is stalling and it's quite evident that they are. Filing a small claims suit is not that expensive and you can do it yourself. Get a copy of their returns policy and highlight any relevant areas. If you paid for this with a Credit Card, then dispute it with your credit card company. They will put the money back in your credit line and usually, they will take of any interest that has accrued. Don't waste anymore time. Once they get a copy of a lawsuit, your money will come to you soon and you will most likely never see the inside of a courtroom.

Well, it is not 12/8/04 and I have still not gotten my refund from Gateway for a computer I returned to them on 11/15 (I verified this with UPS - they got it on that date). I am also involved with a complaint with the BBB (www.bbb.com) on this issue and the scumbags at Gateway down right lied to the BBB folks about my case. Take my advice - don't buy from Gateway.
