Karen got me hook, line and sinker. And now my vehicle has sunk. I began going to her because I was eager to support a female mechanic and initially, she appeared to be an honest mechanic. However, when my transmission began having problems, she "thought" she had replaced the most obvious part, and when that didn't "work", she replaced my clutch, slave cylinder, then, FINALLY, my master cylinder (which was the problem in the first place).

The last time I brought my vehicle in for the same problem, I demanded that she fix the master cylinder, doing the labor for free. She agreed, but got me in the end because they did not lubricate my crankshaft after they had removed the transmission and now I am paying for ANOTHER $400 repair to replace a pilot bearing (the actual part costs $6, but the labor to get the tranny out accounts for the rest), after spending close to $2000 at Gator for my transmission alone.

In addition to all of that, I brought my vehicle to her to check something under the hood and when I popped it open, there was a wrench left UNDER THE HOOD from a previous oil change. Her response: "wow, and that's a $35 wrench - an expensive one to be leaving under someone's hood". My response: dumbfounded.

This woman is COMPLETELY INCOMPETENT and I am preparing to report her to the Better Business Bureau after my new (and VERY trustworthy) mechanic puts all of the problems in writing.

DO NOT BE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF! Go elsewhere!

Hello,

I read the post and wanted to reply because I've always had positive experiences at Gator. I've gone to Gator Tire at least 6 times in as many years. With two different cars. Some problems have been scheduled repairs others emergencies. I have to say that I've always enjoyed the treatment given to me by Karen and her staff.

Karen is a very good listener who doesn't just get you in and out.. My wife and I both enjoy talking with her about our cars and our lives. I want to tell you that most repairs have gone smoothly..though we've had a few small problems. One issue I've noticed is that when I had my radiator and a motor mount changed a bolt was missing. Karen let me know to just bring it in and she would fix it asap... and she did..

The auto repair world is a tough business some things slip through.. I can't speak to what happened to the original poster but there are times in my job working with computers when a problem presents itself in such an odd way that a technician has almost no chance of a first time repair. You take the less costly steps first hoping to save the customer money/time. Especially when the less costly steps are usually more prone to failure. In many ways I feel auto repair is the same. I don't know if that happened here but it sounds like that's what you said occurred.

Rules of thumb where you repair one thing before you replace the entire unit aren't perfect but 80% of the time saving a lot of money and headache.

I'm glad your vehicle was repaired and is running properly now.

I was frustrated with this company and wrote in anger. I stand by my decision to not do business with them.
