The 25% is likely considered a restocking fee, this is common in the retail industry, especially mail/phone/internet orders. It sounds as if the terms were misrepresented to you in the sales pitch. It is not uncommon for these terms to "flash" very quickly, in small print across the screen. The ring you saw on T.V. was under enhanced lighting - it is the same in almost EVERY jewelry store. The industry has researched, in depth, type, wattage, positioning of lighting to enchance both diamonds and gemstones. It is VERY common for a diamond or gemstone to look wholly different in natural light than when on display. The gemstones themselves have very little value. A facet cut yellow sapphire can be purchased wholesale for about $60.00 for a full carat - Faceted Iolite is about $65.00 per carat for Exceptional quality. I don't know the carat weight of your purchase but if you combine the gemstone cost, a few grams of gold and a few dollars for workmanship your jeweler was right on the money for value.

This Company is also known as Gem Auction Television and there are other complaints about them on this site. They give inflated "appraisals", which are done in Bangkok, Thailand. My appraisal was $6900. The jeweler here said more like $299, what I bid on it. You cannot return things!
