Gerson & Cintia De Barros Canil Itanhandu Scams Trusting Americans Itanhandu Brazil
We are a couple in our 60's who decided to retire to Brazil. Our daughter accompanied us. We have been involved with the Brasilian breed of dog called Fila Brasileiro for over 20 yrs and met many wonderful Brasilian fanciers over the years. We met one couple named Gerson and Cintia Junqueira De Barros who owned a kennel in Itanhandu, MG and we struck up a great friendship. They agreed to help us move and get established in Brazil. Since Gerson was an attorney for the state of Minas Gerais his wife told us he would be able to do everything legally to get us moved and represent us. My husband came down to Minas Gerais and found a beautiful fazenda (farm), I flew down to look it over and also fell in love with the fazenda and we decided to purchase it. They told us we couldn't own property since we did not live in Brasil so they agreed to put the property in their names and they would sign it over to us once we moved to Brasil. We recently learned that this is not true, we could have owned property without Cintia or Gerson being involved. Our trusted attorney Gerson wrote up contracts, Cintia speaks English so she told us what the contracts said and had us sign them. Since Gerson was our attorney and they were such good friends we had no reason not to trust them. Obviously now we see the error of our ways, but at the time we were sure they were helping us and true friends.
We moved to Brazil and have been living in Brazil for 17 months we asked them to sign our farm over to us and they always had a reason why they couldn't do it. Now they have gone before the judge and told him THEY purchased the farm for themselves with money we loaned to them, interest free!! Gerson wrote up a rental agreement and Cintia, who had our power of attorney, signed it without us knowing a thing about it and since we didn't have a clue we were supposed to be paying rent on OUR own farm, they are asking the judge to evict us!!!
We are now caught up in the judicial system of a foreign country where we are not fluent in the language and we don't know the laws. We are in a fight for our own property that we have spent hundreds of thousands of hard earned dollars purchasing and improving. My husband is in ill health and this is very stressful for all of us. They also told many of the local business folks that they should charge us 2 to 3 times the amount things actually cost and then they wanted the kickback!! How can people be this callous and greedy?
We just thought this story needed to be told to protect other citizens thinking of emmigrating to Brazil so they would not make the same mistakes.

What a coincidence. Johnny made 18 posts and Greg made 2 posts all between July 26th to July 29th on the www.Fila-Brasileiro.org, on the same day even, that Johnny and Antony posted here to tell everyone on RipoffReport.com how wonderful Gerson and Cintia are. The Greg & Johnny ID's track back to the Gerson & Cintia De Barro's computer in BRAZIL as pointed out on the Fila-Brasiliero list. Even so Johnny and Antony claim to live is Los Angeles and Gainesville Florida, their poor spelling and usage is something you see from someone who isn't that familar with the English language. Notice how they knock the American breeders while trying to build up their wonderful dogs from Gerson and Cintia (of course, why would Gerson and Cintia knock their own dogs). What made me start checking was the way this Johnny & Greg were going after one person on the list.
I am fortunate. I had been emailing Gerson & Cintia to buy a pup from them when Johnny and Greg started posting. Now, that it's been proven that Johnny and Greg (and I'll bet Antony's and Johnny's post here) all came from the same Computer ID as Gerson and Cintia's in BRAZIL. (My emails from them had the same Computer ID as Johnny & Greg's on the Fila Brasileiro list). These facts made me curious so I googled them again and found this RipOff Report. (I hadn't went far enough down the google list the first time to see this report).
Luckily I found this out before I sent them the money for the pup rather than afterwards.
MY SUGGESTION ---- BUYER BEWARE----. Don't buy from someone with questionable ETHICS. (If you can't trust the Breeder, how can you trust the dog to be what the Breeder says it is?) DO YOUR HOMEWORK or you may not be as lucky as I was to find out before I sent them the money for the pup.

I was looking for a male, a special one to breed with one of my females. So I choose Gerson because I wanted an authentic Fila Brasileiro. I was a little concerned due to the fact they were all the way in Brasil and I did not know them at all. I took the chance and I am glad I did.I have had many troubles with breeders here in the USA and I was expecting the worst but instead it was the oppsite! They are all the way in south America but the ease and professionalism really shocked me and my friend who bought one dog from Gerson and then after buying some filas here in the USA said "I quit, am just gonna buy another one from Gerson" when I got my fila he came dry healthy and right out of the crate. But also he came with all her papers! which I am having big problems with other breeders here. Anyways one thing my friend and I have noticed is that when Gerson say "I will ship the puppy this day" he do it! which is cool because its very disapointing to fix your whole day around picking up a puppy from the airport only to later come home check your email and the breeder wrote you saying oh I am sorry couldnt do it today! Anyways on temperament my fila is doing great . These animals will do anything, literally anything they can to protect the person who has become to them. My fila loves my son and is his best friend and guardian.

These people that tells so bad about Gerson and Cintia are not correct. Gerson and Cintia are wounderfull friends, very helpfull in everything we need and their dogs are excellent. I have 2 dogs from them and would not hesitate to recommend them to others. I received two wonderful, healthy, loving members to add to our family. I visited Gerson last year and could see his dogs and facilities, that are fantastics. I was impressed with the structure of Gerson's dogs, very healthy and perfect walk like no other here in the states. Itanhandu dogs are really strong.
