Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I recently purchased a Gigabyte GA-Z77-DS3H Motherboard for the computer I was building (I finished the build).   I just found out that this motherboard produces only 2-channel sound.  The manual states it will produce 5.1 and 7.1 Channel sound.  I have an Inspire 5.1 Creative Labs sound system.  This sound system works  on my last computer, which I still use as a back-up computer system.    I contacted Gigabyte USA about this, and they stated that this is normal. Normal ?   I told them about what is stated in the user manual, and they replied with updating the audio drivers.  Which I did, and didn't improve the situation.  I contacted them again, stating the same situation, and they replied, "Well....there's not much we can do......"    The main Corporate Office is in China, with a branch office in the United States.  Unfortunately,  I don't know the address.  I just have their telephone contact number.    I'll have to do the best I can with this motherboard, until I replace it with another brand.  I just want to let others in the computer arena know about this, so they don't fall into this mess like I did.   For the record, their contact telephone number is  :  (626) 854-9338

Thanks,

Gary Stanullwich

I am a System Builder and have been for several decades with significant experience.

My preference with Logicboards is Gigabyte.  Reasons are many.  ASUS is also equally as good. However, both have strong and weak points.  So ultimately both are simply user preference in the end.  If on budget, buy lowest price. If no budget, buy the features, you want.  Both are world class performers and both distribut worldwide because they make good products.

Points:  #1, Gigabyte consistently has some of the lowest return rate and failure rate in the industry.  This comes with a reason Quality and reliability.

Customer said, 7.1 Sound didn't work.  Gigabyte site specifically says to get 7.1 to work properly a HD Front Pannel, must be installed, then enable the audio features through the audio drivers. (this is not so revelant as the product as the product is out of date but informational for future consumers).

No where in the complaint did customer say they installed a 7.1 Front Pannel and configured the pannel to Gigabytes requirements and specifications.  Does anyone see a problem here.  I do.  This is not a Gigabyte Ripoff but likely a customer error.

I have called Gigabyte, City of Industry,  with issues.  They have always been helpful, curteous, friendly and prompt to answer the phones and questions. Even silly questions that are a technicians waste of time.

As usual, this is likely a customer error and a builder without all the needed data necessary.

Gigabyte can't make a defective product, sell it world wide and claim 7.1 sound and not work.  An error like that would put them out of business.

Gibabyte makes good products.  No manufacturer is perfect.  If the 7.1 didn't work (legitimately) there is a 30 day return from the retailer and the retailer pays shipping if withing the time frame.

If the product was purchased on ebay and didn't work, the seller must bear the return cost and issue a refund.

If customer exhausted timeout specifications voiding free returns, then the customer must bear the costs.

So, why is the customer filing a ripoff report claim.  The answer is obvious.

CUSTOMER ERROR.

If you go to gigabyte url:  https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-Z77-DS3H-rev-10#sp

You can clearly see the requirements to get 7.1 working properly.  The user that filed the complaint did not provide enough data to determine absoutely customer fault or Gigabyte fault.  How So much info was missing, it would seem user error.
