Person contacted me by phone in late Nov. 2004. They said they wanted to verifiy the magazine subsccriptions I had ordered. I told them that I hadnt ordered any any magazines and I did'nt want any. They scared me into believing they had my bank information by giving me the routing number to my checking account,and got me to verify the rest of the account information, stupid I know ,but I never thought someone could do this so easy either.They told me the subcriptons would be canceled, played a tape recording past me, which I could not understand a word of and got me to say yes thinking they were canceling this order.
At the end I even got nasty to the guy and said, this is canceled right! he replied yes. I just knew I had got screwed, so I called my bank to close my account and open a new one, explaning what had happend. the bank wanted to wait a week to get all outstanding checks through. In the mean time they debited my account for 39.95. The bank took the loss and I closed the account. when they found out they could'nt get into my bank account they called my house and said they were from my band and needed information, I recogized the guys voice and hung up.
Sinsc them I keep geeting threating bills, from them and piles of magizines I keep sending back with telemarketinf fraud written on then, I called Messena. N.Y. police twice, County police here in Lafayette, In. BBB. Indiana attorney general and several different fraud re lated agencys. Now the company sent me a final notice on april 1.2005 saying I owe them $800.00 and if I don'nt pay them immediately they will sue me and ruin my credit. Well, I am not stupid enough to pay them. What do I do at this point? I have excellent credit and I don't want some thief ruining it. I am also on disability and can't afford an expensive lawer, But I want to get thease guys bad. The bbb has had over 340 fraud reports on them this year. It seems as big as this out fit is the FBI would get involved.
