Just a thought... I am not a lawyer, nor do I know the laws of bankruptcy, but it would stand to reason that a lease vehicle would be handled differently than a regular purchase. The lease obligation would have been discharged, but what about the residual? There are two separate parts to a lease. That could explain why they were able to charge off an amount. again, I do not know the laws, but I do know leases. GOOD LUCK!

Have your bankruptcy attorney write GMAC and the credit bureau reminding them that the lease was included in your Chapter 7. They might not charge for this. If you files without an attorney, write your bankruptcy judge for help. Sears lost millions because of a consumer letter to a judge. The Chapter 7 will stay on your report 10 years, but you may be able to get credit.
