I have heard stories of ripping off the bereaved family, but these people really take advantage of the people. My mother-in-law passed away a few months ago. Her husband thought he had enough insurance because he paid in $8500 for the policy. Turns out, it expired. He paid $100 a week to the funeral home for 8 years, only to find out it lapsed. He is 82 years old and ou think the funeral home would het him know it lapsed? No. So my wife and I had to pay for the entire funeral. They were plain nasty. When I wanted to save money and buy her casket, they gave me and the casket company a lot of grief in violation of federal law. The charged us $650 to dress her and $75 to style her hair. When I asked for them to color her hair, they said no. The charged for ever little thing and were very course and unprofessional. I understand the funeral industry is a business, but these are cold and heartless people.

The figures you quote do not add up therefore your ocmment makes little sense. I note that this funeral home has no other complaints filed against it. A pre paid funeral contract does not expire. if you purchased insurance and did not make every payment thet it would lapse and they would not pay out. If I total your figures that total much more that the $8500. you quote. How did they violate the law with respect to the casket you purchased? I know of no funeral home that would charge $650. to casket the remains. it sounds like that was for disinfecting, embalming, dressing and casketing. if you supply more detailed information then it may be possible to decipher your complaints. i do agree that SCI is not the best funeral service corporation. Sorry for your loss and difficulties.

Sounds like the policy wan't paid in full and lapsed. Also, how do YOU know her husband wasn't notified? I would hope he knew the terms of the policy when he took it out.
"When I wanted to save money and buy her casket, they gave me and the casket company a lot of grief in violation of federal law."
What, exactly did they do that violated federal law? Cite the law they violated and how. I didn' know it was against the law to "give a lot of grief.
He paid $100 a week to the funeral home for 8 years"
That's $41,600 he paid, sounds like an awful lot of money for a retiree to pay a funeral home. Are you sure you're not a drama queen?
You are definitely NOT telling the whole story or the truth here.

I address this to the punk, Ken, who obviously works for the funeral industry. Am I drama queen because my mother-in-law could not even have her hair colored for $75? He paid $100 a month for 8 years, due the path adds to $8500.00. Get your facts straight you low life.
