I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding the hazardous mold issue at Gold's Gym, located at 1808 W International Speedway Blvd Ste. 601, Daytona Beach, FL 32114. Despite numerous complaints from members, the gym has consistently refused to address the problem. Extensive mold growth has been observed, particularly in the sauna area and other damp sections of the facility. The following types of mold have been identified:
Stachybotrys (Black Mold) – This toxic mold thrives in areas with excessive moisture and poses severe health risks, including respiratory issues and allergic reactions.
Aspergillus – Commonly found indoors, this mold can trigger respiratory problems and exacerbate conditions like asthma, especially in those with weakened immune systems.
Cladosporium – Known for causing allergic reactions and skin irritation, this mold has been detected in cooler areas of the gym, including on wood surfaces and textiles.
Despite repeated efforts to inform gym management about this serious health hazard, including calls and emails to (386) 281-5959 and [email protected], no action has been taken. Additionally, Gold's Gym corporate headquarters was notified of the situation, as well as the franchise owners, Danny Waggoner and Brian Warne, who have also failed to respond to the health and safety concerns of their members.
The true owners of the Gold's Gym chain, RSG Group, were contacted this morning by both email and their contact form. The emails used were [email protected] and [email protected]. The RSG Group Contact Us page is available at https://rsggroup.com/en/contact/. Despite notifying them of the mold issues, I have yet to receive any acknowledgment or resolution from the responsible parties.
Gold's Gym's refusal to address this critical safety and sanitation concern is unacceptable and puts all members at significant risk. Immediate action is necessary to rectify the situation.
Request for Action:
This issue must be addressed promptly to prevent further harm. For additional context, I have created a YouTube video playlist documenting the mold problem, which can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYafvNsaL1NsBGwXU9FvKjiOwqWXPK0Ue. I have also initiated a petition calling for mold laws in public shared spaces, which can be found at https://www.change.org/p/mold-laws-for-public-shared-spaces.

Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter.
