Gordon Brothers Group, Gordon Brothers Liquidators, Forced Stupid prices employees to sell defective resealed merchandise at full retail to customers Boston, Massachusetts
Recently Bremerton Smart Buys at Stupid prices was closed down. For the past 4 years, we have maintained an honest and courteous relationship with the local community, standing behind our merchandise. This all changed when the liquidation company took over the final weeks our store was open. The broken and defective merchandise we had in our warehouse was dusted off and put back on the sales floor at regular price. This included televisions that had no picture, vaccuum cleaners that would not power on, heaters with the power cords cut off...etc. The items were resealed in original boxes with signs that said "Do not open cartons". The few of us employees that remained were not authorized to disclose any information to the customers and were given strict instructions that "We no longer provide customer service." So, in otherwords, push the buttons on the cash register and ripp of the community with a smile. We were also informed that if we did not comply, we would be terminated and not recieve out unemployment benefits. How is this fair? How can we be honest for years and then at the flip of a switch, go into scam/ ripp off mode to the same customers....customers who have put their faith and trust in us. Marking prices up to mark them down, selling our salvage/trash...so very wrong!!!!! I actually had the cops called on my when I refunded a customer (with my store managers consent, I must add) who had bought a heater in a sealed box to find the power cord cut off. Wow, and I am the criminal....I beg to differ. Consumers need to be advised that when a store is having a "Going out of Business sale" to be advised, they are buying things from liars and cheats, not the retailer that once existed.
