 On Friday 07/03/2014 afternoon I was driving my 2011 Chevrolet Traverse on North Dale Mabry hwy in Tampa Florida. While making a normal left turn into Red Lobster parking lot the car stop driving like it had no transmission. I made it off the road and looked under the car and discovered that right(passenger side) cv axle had broken at the wheel hub. Having 87,000 miles on the vehicle I realize that the drivetrain was still under warranty. I called Geico whom dispatch and towed the vehicle to Gordon Chevrolet on North Dale Mabry Hway. I approached the service advisor Mr. Batoneli and explain to him what my problem was and received instructions where to have the tow truck drop my vehicle.

He told me he had to have a mechanic look at it first to determine problem. I sat for an hour to no avail and asked him what was going on with my car. He told me he had to have the operational manager(Craigh Greaney) take a look at it. He then said GM require that the axle be replaced with an OEM Axle and it was only available at the Autoway Cheverolet locally in tampa. I asked him why could he have it delivered and have my car repair as I was leaving town to visit family for the fourth of July. He then said he couldn’t authorized that. Common practice; I knew something was up.

I was then approached by Craigh Greaney whom invited me into his office and told me that Gordon Chevrolet was not going to honor the warranty on the drive axle because they found what appeared to be hair or something wrapped around the axle and they think that could have separated the axle joint. That was the funniest thing I have ever heard. But he really pissed me off because, I was obvious that he was trying to find a way to not honor the company’s warranty which is why I am contacting you. I had the car towed to Pepboys on Dale Mabry Hwy and spoke to the mechanic that repaired my truck and asked his professional opinion.

He started no way that could have happened the way Gordon Chevrolet stated and felt it was the result of poor workmanship. Personally, I knew that was nothing wrapped around that axle because both my son and I was under vehicle and what we saw was a boken axle at the hub. The material that he found claimed was wrapped around the axle by someone at Gordon Chevrolet. Totally dishonesty and a misrepresentation of General Motors Promises to the customers like me. Just as a side note; I took my car into Gordon Chevrolet for the recall on the air bag and they tried to charge me a diagnostic fee for the repair.

They stated that there was something else wrong and they charged a diagnostic fee to figure it out. I told them to do what GM outlined to satify the recall notice. Nothworty, I had the vehicle at the dealearship twice for airbag problems prior to the recall and I was told it was a lose wire causing the problem. I had vehicle repaired at pepeboys the same day and it cause me 340.00 plus dollars for the rapairs. Never, Never, again will i do business with gordon chevrolet or recommend that company to another one. This is not the first time i have had problem with them on service related issues. Do not not deal with these people! t
