A QUICK INTERNET SEARCH on Sweepstakes scams would have prevented this. No legitimate lottery or sweepstakes will send you a check to pay fees and taxes with - those are removed from legitimate winnings before you ever see a dime of it. You could have asked your bank to check it out (without depositing it) You could have called the bank it was drawn on You could have tried map any address they provided.
