Never buy a vehicle from Grayson BMW. We bought a used BMW in Feb 2007, it is now Aug 2008 and we have had the vehicle in the shop 5 times now. We have spent over 3,000 to have this car's many problems fixed. We average it being in the shop about every 3 months. We have taken it back to Grayson all of those times except 1. They sold us a lemon, plain and simple. The car had 80,000 miles when we purchased it, it is a 2001 model.

My husband drives it to work only and we have so many problems it is not even funny. We have tried to get Grayson to take it back but they refuse they state we should have bought the warrenty, funny thing is, all these items we have had to have fixed would not have been covered by that warrenty. Just last night my husband stopped to fill up with gas and the car wouldn't start, imagine that. It is now back in the shop and we have a call into Grayson. They are crooks.

We have now found a machanic that used to work there, that will work on our car for 1/2 the price as what Grayson charges, oh and last time we had it in, we told him how we were still having problems, (like the car smoking) and that was what was supposed to be fixed the last time we had it in there, he stated that our items we had paid for had not been fixed.... They are crooks...... NEVER BUY FROM THEM..... WARN ALL YOUR FRIENDS..... THEY WILL TAKE YOU FOR ALL YOU ARE WORTH.....

I saw this and had to respond.  Have you read the fine print on Carfax?  It says its IMPOSSIBLE to know everything.  If it was not disclosed to them by the previous owner and the Carfax is clean what are they supposed to do.  They aren't going to go over every used car with a fine tooth comb.  You said it yourself that the salesman told you it didn't have a bad "history.". Well on paper it apparently doesn't.  Also it can take Carfax up to 18 months to receive notice of an accident.

My wife and I both own BMW's and I've got extensive background in the automotive industry. I know that it can be hard when you purchase a car for a given amount, only to be faced with repair bills, but that is the chance you take when you purchase a used car and especially a European Import. Not only is it a good practice to do extensive research, such as "consumer reports" or "Googling" for issues on certain models, cars are not like items that are bought at Wal-Mart, we simply can't return them and just get our money back, to think this way, almost surely sets ourselves up for disappointment. We've bought new cars and used cards from Grayson BMW and recently our 2007 BMW has overheated, thank goodness it's under warranty. I seriously doubt any reputable dealership like Grayson, would sell a "Lemon" vehicle on their lot. The mileage says it all "80,000" and when our BMW's have hit the 60-70K mark there are issues that have come up, such as battery failure, fuel pump failure, or one time when our alternator failed at 96,000 miles, anyhow we've moved on and fixed those problems or purchased a new car.. When you buy a "used" car, always purchase an extended warranty if you are worried about the financial impact of "repair bills". I will say that Gray's service dept has been more than helpful for my wife and I, but in terms of the Sales Dept, I don't think I would buy a used BMW.. because of the research I've done... I'd personally rather buy a new car with a 60K warranty that covers everything. Honestly, this doesn't sound anything like a Rip-Off, but more like bitterness that your used car broke down and the dealer is refusing to repair it for FREE. However, if you claim they've "Ripped You Off" I think the world would be better off if you edited your post and gave us, "more" details about the situation. I also think I will inform the sales manager at Grayson about your post, so maybe both sides can be heard... That company doesn't have multiple awards for nothing!
