Great Cars and Trucks.com contacted me as a result of an ad I placed in Car & Truck magazine,(local edition) and offered to advertise for 3 months and if the car did not sell within the 3 months the money would be refunded.

After 3 months I called the number I was given and left numerous messages on an answering machine. After about 20 calls, I finally spoke to someone who referred me to a website where there were forms to fill out.

The fine print in the offer requires and avadavit to be signed and postmarked within 7 days of the 3 months. I was not informed of this when I was offered the ad over the telephone.

For over 4 months I have been calling Great Cars and Trucks, and received no response. Finally someone answered my call and told me "it is too late - you will not be reimbursed.

This is not a reputable or honest company. BEWARE

WOW! 5/14/2004 this report was created!!!! That in it self should tell you to stay away. I placed an add with Great cars and trucks about 3 years ago and went through all the same stuff. It took almost two years and a lot of phone calls leaving nasty messages but I did get my money back. Ya Jim we did follow all the (Fine Print) and met all requirements , it still took two years to get my money back. Great cars and trucks is a real sneaky operation. They think if they don't answer their phones, the time limit for the money back offer will expire as per the fine print, but I tell all you people who have fallen for this scam that they can persist and call their mpp to get involved or call everyone and everyone they know to warn people about this scam. I'll also keep asking people to post messages every where about Great cars and trucks on the Internet, phone polls, ext ext ext . . You see it isn't the small amount of money you tried to rip off of me that motivates me to expose you to as many people I can Its the HUGE amounts of money this company rips off from thousands of people yearly! I have personally prevented at least 30 getting ripped of by Great cars and trucks and from those people they've warned on average 30 people so on and so on and so on. That's a lot of $$$$$$$ saved from Great cars and trucks rip off! Get It? not only costing them money but the bad customer reviews too!

How Come..

Hey Jim! How come you didn't have too much to say whenever I was posting so many months ago that the crappy company you work for had charged my card twice, which I have read they seem to do sometimes as you all have incompetent sales guys working in some small a*s office somewhere in Canada. You like to pretend you are a large company, however sir you are not. I spoke with Craig McMorran directly, and basically had to put him in a corner to even reimburse me after being lied to for about a month. You guys are a joke. Seriously, you'll wake up one day and realize that what goes around comes around and I'm sure you'll be sitting there wishing you had already killed yourself.

I too was contacted by Great Cars and Trucks after listing my truck in the Auto Trader. I will not give my cc number until I have researched the company and I also came accross this site. If I was the owner of this company I would have fired this James alreay (or not re-contracted with him), not only is he very unprofessional but he cannot get his story straight and blams everything on the customer. I find it hard to believe that all of these customers who reported this company did not follow the insturctions.....therefore I will not be advertising with your company. I can tell you that you have lost a great number of potential customers from your actions and I suggest that you just get rid of the money back guarantee. At least this way you will stay in business, and let me tell you 4 years is not a very long time for a business, your business can go down at anytime from bad word of mouth (a dissatisfied customer is more apt to report you and bad mouth you). A suggestion to all of you who have been ripped off by this company: File a class actions suite or take them to small claims court. Here is the states you can file your own paperwork for little money and if you did follow all the rules (I am sure you kept copies of everything) they will rule in your favor and make them pay the court fees. If more people did this then I am sure you would see their business practices changing (or they would just go out of business and go away, if they are the rats that they seem to be). So I am just glad that you did take the time to report these people as it has prevented another person from getting ripped off. I am so sick of these companies as I have personally delt with such a company before and this is why I research every company that I am not aware of before doing business with them....especially the ones online and the "cold calling sales people" I thought I did not have to worry about them anymore as I have not received a sales call since I signed on to the National Do Not Call List (James see below). Also, James did you know that you are not to be cold calling people from these ads here in the US there is a little something that they call the National Do Not Call List. If your compay is contacting people in the states you must utilize this list and search their number before calling. By not doing so, and they are on this list (as I am)you are violating this persons privacy and can have a complaint filled against your company for this "cold calling". I suggest you get the list and don't bother these people (this is the reason why I am on it and NOW I HAVE TO DEAL WITH YOU), and research the laws of the US. To the customer if you hate getting sales calls and you are in the US sign up on the National Do Not Call List (you can list all your phone number). Believe me the calls do stop and if they don't you can report the company that does not follow the Law. Thanks again.

If you want to sell your car...

#5Consumer Suggestion

To Whom this may apply to: The best way to sell your car is through "friends & family members" If you decide to advertize... then you would be better off with 4 colour pic's & over 100 words of descripion & with "financing" backing you up for a 1 time fee of $60 ... rather than paying the Auto Trader $70.00 with none of the things I just mentioned & they only advertize for 2 weeks at that price. Most people need financing. The Auto Trader does not provide that. Great Cars and Trucks does! I have "personally spoken" to many people who have spent $300 or more... with the Auto Trader & have never sold their car. As mentioned before... "how could they?" Without financing in most cases? The Auto Trader is set up for you to fail at selling your car... as they are into Advertizing only. As a matter of fact... they would not allow "online financing" as they would then loose their "dealer ads" as those "dealers" have their own financing & make most of their money from that financing. Rather than hate someone who just charged you "once" $60... with backup of financing & 4 colour pic's on your ad....a website that has financing for your car. Why not get upset at the people who do not wish you to sell your car & those that make money if you do not? I hate to call anyone an idiot... but I do "personally know" that most of the cars that are advertized with the "Auto Trader" & other type mag's are "eventually sold" through dealers who have financing! That is the end game. Your car may not sell off of "Great Cars and Trucks" website either! However at least you only paid a "one time fee" of $60... & you get financing backing you up... along with 4 colour pics & 100 words of description & the ability to "edit your ad" on a "daily basis" & you never have to pay again. Now I do not think that is a "rip off". To heck with the "money back guantee" which I assure you they honor. Jim Stewart.

Let the Buyer Beware

In response to Johnathan; It is not a salesman's job to read to you "fine print" of a money back guantee that is clearly written on the website. If you were concerned in the beginning with how you would get your money back should your car not sell in 90 days... you should have mentioned that to the sales rep. I know of "no sales rep" that would hide the money back guantee should he be questioned about it. Simply by clicking on the money back guantee which is posted clearly on the website... anyone can see the instructions for doing that. So the problem seems to be that you did not do any research before you agreed to sell your car in this manner & then got mad that you did not follow the rules as clearly outlined. In the future let me tell you. Almost all contracts have "small print". It is your job to read that print before you sign anything. Do not bad mouth people who did their job when you clearly did not.
