I just came upon this website and saw other people have also been ripped off by Great Expectations, so I felt it important that I also added my testimonial.

My experience with the company was about 8 years ago. I was going through a lonely time in my life, and somehow, I found Great Expectations. It may have been in some singles advertising newspaper. Anyway, I visited their office in Palo Alto, filled out a bunch of forms and profile questions, and then a saleslady sold me a 1 year membership for $2,000 dollars.

For this price, I was supposed to be introduced to only 10 ladies, ones that would supposedly meet my search criteria. I was told that I would receive the ladies' phone numbers by mail, and the first letter would arrive within a week. Well, this was total BS. It took nearly 2 months for me to receive my first letter of introduction, and when I called the lady, she was not single any more and not interested in meeting me.

So I complained to the company, and they sent me a replacement about a month later. I met this lady in person, but she was not at all what I was expecting or hoping to meet. I was very disappointed. Then it was months after that and I never received another profile by mail, and I had to put in another complaint.

After nearly 1 year of the service, I had only the one introduction and the rest was just delays and bad numbers. So I decided to ask for a refund and had to go to arbitration. We did a phone call meeting in arbitration, and the jerk arbitrator ruled in favor of Great Expectations and did not refund me anything. Also, since a full year went by, Great Expectations said I had to pay an additional $200 in order to keep my membership active.

I was so furious that I felt like picketing the company or something, but I did not know what to do. I had been ripped off $2,000. Luckily, my story ended ok because a few months later a tree fell on my car, and my insurance awarded me $2000 to fix it, so I guess God paid me back.

Anyway, do not use this dating service. They are a fraud, and if you try to get your money back, you won't have any luck. They are a bunch of crooks and I fully regret using their service. I lost $2,000 and got nothing for it. Just one lousy date over a whole year.
