I separated from my boyfriend of 11 years and thought the best place to meet other single people was through a service. I visited Great Expectations and was excited about the opportunities they offered UNTIL I found out the costs of the service. Reluctantly, I signed a contract through Sales Representative, Rebecca Horn. After having a night to think about everything, primarily the financial aspects, I decided to call Rebecca back and explain to her I wanted to cancel the contract. I called several times a day for days - I even contacted the 800 number and was promised a return call. To no avail, I didn't received phone calls.

The service representative who answered the 800 number referred me to the cancellation policy (which I was not even aware of). It stated you had three days to cancel the contract. Since I was concerned with the timeframes, I visited Great Expectations and once again asked to speak to Rebecca. Of course, as usual, she was busy. Before I left the building, I provided the receptionist with the contract contents and everything else I received. I also wrote Rebecca a letter explaining why I was cancelling the contract - the letter also contained documentation of the times I contacted her.

Again, no feedback from either her or the company. On Friday, I received my credit card statement. Low and behold, there was the charge from Great Expectations. I have since called Rebecca at least four times but have not received return phone calls. My daughter in law called for me but used her maiden name to see if Rebecca was busy (10 minuted after my calling her) and Rebecca immediately got on the phone. When questioned about why she hadn't contacted me, Rebecca said she was not obligated to discuss the matter with her and hung up on her.

I have in the meantime contacted the BBB and several local agencies regarding this matter AND have notified Great Expectations of doing so. To make matters more interesting, there is no "Corporate Office" - at least none you can report complaints to!

File a dispute with your credit card company..GE is a HUGE ripoff

GE will go to any length to sign people up for their service. The cost is all negotiable depending on how much room you have on your credit cards and how much money you make. GE did not honor their notice of cancellation, which is state law in some states. File a complaint with your credit card and keep any paperwork you have. Make sure GE does not get a dime of your money. They suck! Good luck
