Walnut Creek,#2UPDATE EX-employee responds
Thu, October 23, 2003
As a former employee of GE (and that person on the other side of the phone) - I can relate exactly to everything you experienced. Believe it or not, as an employee I was equally brow beaten by the Director, every emotion or insecurity twisted for their desired end result. I worked under the same umbrella of ownership as your Sacramento Center. I had my own encounter w/ Barbara and the Labor Board myself not too long ago. I hate to say it, but good luck getting your money back. I have a signed judgement ordering them to pay a small amount of money (a fraction of what was actually owed, but what was settled upon to avoid more trials and tribulations), however they still just refuse to pay it. In honesty, there's nothing really we can do to get it back -but I can let as many people know the truth of that business as I can. Here's what happens - although you were initially uncomfortable with the amount, they knew exactly how much you were willing to pay. How? They run a credit report to show exactly how much you have available on your line of credit. They lock you in the room for hours, until you are exhausted and are beaten. They prey on every feeling and insecurity you have and twist it to their own device. This center is run by the lowest possible human beings possible - those devoid of decency, morality, ethics, feeling. They are money hungry, dirty beasts. And will stop at nothing to close that sale. The salespeople and telemarketers are ruthless and relentless. Believe me, I was one of them. Well, I got out before I turned. But when you are getting paid stricly commission (a miniscule one at that) - it's amazing how aggressive it can make a person. The 3 day cancellation policy is a mere formality. One of the last conversations I had - one that pushed me over the edge - was with a 74 year old man who came home to realize he made a mistake. When calling to cancel, the salesperson (who all use aliases) constantly dodged his calls. After he got in touch with him - AFTER 3 days - his response? Sorry, you missed the deadline. Afterall, "you signed the contract." If you do manage to get that written cancellation in, it can take months to get that charge off your card. Final point, Barbara's response, "They kept saying we are a business and everything we do is compliant with California law" is a complete lie. Ask them about a little California law called Minimum Wage - I can first hand tell you, not paying employees is definitely not complying with any kind of law. It is a scam, and they have no problems screwing other people. As long as these thousands of dollars make it into a few peoples' open pockets (who do nothing but steamroll whomever gets in their way). I'm sorry you and others have been ripped off by this organization. I am even more sorry that I played part in MANY others doing the same. I can't change anything, but hopefully imparting what I learned to others - I can somewhat rectify it. Good luck!
