Great Western Inn Changed Phone #, made reservations under other motel's name and charged for holding room Branson Missouri
About Wednesday, June 28, 2006, my wife called the number 417-334-8998, as that was the number listed for The Country Bunkhouse in our 1-year-old copy of the Branson phone directory. When she dialed that number, she asked, "Is this The Country Bunkhouse?", as she had dialed a wrong number once before while calling around. The woman indicated that it was; and proceeded to make reservations in our name for Saturday, July 1, 2006.
When we arrived at The Country Bunkhouse, the reservation could not be found, but they had one room available and said that was probably it and let it to us. We paid for the room and stayed there. When we arrived home, we had a charge on our bank card for a stay at The Great Western Inn. I found out that they had the same phone number in our phone book so I called them. I was told that she (presumably the owner of The Great Western Inn) had sold The Country Bunkhouse last year, and she claimed that she held the room for us, so she would keep our money.
I iterated that we had asked for The Country Bunkhouse and that the numbers were the same in the phone book, but she refuses to refund the charge. The Great Western Inn has apparently used scams like this on other people; look at their BBB report: springfield-mo.bbb.org/commonreport.html?bid=10691
This business obviously feels that since it is in a very busy resort town, it can do whatever it wants to the customer. This boils down to theft. Don't let them scam you!
