Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I too have been harassed lately for late payments on our loan. I will only be 2 weeks late and the calls begin. Both at home and at work. They continue to call all hours and when they could leave a message they do not. They continue to ring the phone. As those before me mention, you can not please them. I MUST make a phone payment at the time they call.(which is very dangerous to do. Who knows who is really calling you??) I tell them I will call the 800 # a make a payment and they say "that is not good enough" Makes me wonder if it is a scam phone call. When I hang up they call again. I have been called names, but not sworn at. This is just in the last 4 months.

Now, the clincher and everyone listen. THEY RECOMMENDED CFCCS or CENTER FOR CREDIT COUNCELING SERVICES! When we were having financial trouble back several years ago. We used CFCCS and lost a lot of money in that rip off. Could they be connected? Makes me very scared because their phone tactics are now a lot of what I dealt with at CFCCS. HHHMMMMM!

This is true. If in writting you ask to not be called at work they can not do so and Green Tree did. They can not threaten you. They can not call at all hours. I do understand YOUR point, but look at the practices of businesses out there. Lenders. This was not normal business practice. Although you are not aware of OUR specific details or the entire rest of the story that traspired AFTER this, the conversations I had were documented with date, time, name of person spoken to. I was even threatened, which by the way IS ILLEGAL! Under the consumer act you state this IS covered, have you read it? Are you aware of tacticts such as this in your office? I would be careful of your customers rights. Debt, late or not.... harrassment and scare tactics are illegal. For a large lender to appear with a note at your door after only 14 days of being late on a payment (gee...could there have been a death in the family at the time, out of town, unaware it is late? lost in the mail, who knows!) Would be a questionable tactic. Ask a lawyer as I did. We were told to be careful after the phone conversations not to mention the note at the door. We were finally in contact with someone who, when made aware of the tactics and documentation, APPOLOGIZED and said this was WRONG. This was some time ago, I am surprised at this late a response unless the tactics are still being used by your office.

If your boss paid you two weeks late, how often would you bug him to find out when you were getting paid? What if he stopped returning your calls? Why is it a big deal for the people who paid for your house to call you and find out why you aren't paying them back on time? I have no sympathy for your situation. If you would like more information, I would suggest reading the FDCPA - Federal Debt Collections Protection Act. It's what gives both lenders and debtors rights with regards to collections practices. Honestly, I'm surprised they didn't call you at 3-days past due. I'm not trying to be rude - but I'm just being blunt. You think it's a ripoff when you blow off making a payment for two weeks? Why does Green Tree have to wait 14 days? Why should you have to wait 14 days for your boss to pay you? And furthermore, doing a check over the phone is more secure than mailing a check. I would explain the process in fuller detail but honestly you're not worth that much time. Let me just say this - if the bill was paid on time to begin with, you'd get no calls. And if you do get a call, just pay it over the phone instead of putting it off even longer. Anyone at Green Tree will be able to verify any information you desire to make you feel more comfortable about doing a check over the phone. Also, no - we are not affiliated with that credit counseling service. Someone was probably just trying to give you advice - but apparently you think everyone is out to get you. Watch out, I think the Santa Clause just made off with your credit cards... Stop being so paranoid and just be responsible. Any questions, call 877-606-7483
