Greentree Servicing Completely ruined me ripoff Palatine Illinois
I'm not sure I can enough about just how bad a company Greentree Servcing is. A word of warning to everyone. Do NOT use them under any circumstances for you mortgage or especially manufactured home loan.
I had a chapter 13 bankruptcy dismissed in Jan. 2006. At that time Greentree wasn't even my loan company. My original loan was sold to them. At the time of the dismissal the home loan, by all records, should have been current.
Greentree called me in February. I thought that I would just start making payments to them, because based on the history that's what any sane person would do, but NO. They wanted not only the current payment, but also $3,500 that they considered their loss in "buying" my loan from another company. A lawyer told me this was illegal and not contractually bound.
I didn't have the money and they would accept NO partial payments, would not refinance, or do anything to assist in helping them get THEIR money. Instead they sued for possession of the home and went under the radar of the court several times in having their lawyers mail me official court documents that the court hadn't even seen yet and some the court never did see.
The sad part is this. There is nothing I can do about it. I'm losing my home because of their negligence not to work with me to make my payments. They would rather take the home, sell it for pennies on the dollar, reap the entire balance of the loan from their financial insurance, and then expect you to pay a deficiency. In short expecting you to pay them twice.
Stay away from Greentree no matter what. If they were the only home loan company to choose from I would live in a tent in a public park. They have caused me to have to file chapter 7 and in likelihood have thrown me into divorce court and God only knows what I'll lose there.

Call your State's Center for Equal Justice Legal Aid Department. They can tell you what to do and/or even help you file a claim against these people.
