Greenwood Towing Co. Baltimore, MD This company is a scam artist. We visited this area on Sat. 11/1/2014 just to have lunch. We paid for our parking ticket and placed it on the dash board of our vehicle and went to a nearby resturant to eat. Upon returning to leave we notice our vehicle was not in the parking lot. We saw two towing trucks in the parking lot so we approached one of them to inquire about our vehicle which they claim to be oblivious to what may have happened. Baltimore Maryland
He then mentioned that chances are that our vehicle may have been towed away but claimed that he was not the one who towed away our vehicle after we described what our vehicle looked like to him. He pointed us to a sign with the above companies phone number in which we contacted that company. We called the company to inquire if they had our vehicle which they said they had and we will not get it back unless we have $330.00 up front. We told them that we had a paid parking receipt which we placed in the vehicles' dashboard and we were gone only for 1 hr (2 hr time limit for parking). They said that there was no ticket present and that is why our vehicle was towed away.
While we were yet in the parking lot trying to figure out how we were to get to this company to retrieve our vehicle, we learned from a resident of a nearby apartment complex that they do this all the time to people and asked us what they were charging us . We told this resident the fee and he said that they charge different fees to other victims. I asked the taxi driver on our way to the place is the a common practice to have to take people to this particular towing company and he said "yes, all the time". He too asked how much were they charging us and Echo what the resident of the building said about them preying on people (especially from out of state) and basing pricing methods according to what one can afford to pay.

you pull onto a lot with several instructional signs that tell you this is a pre pay lot that you must pay and then display clearly on your dash or you will be towed. so you park you go to the pay machine you purchase a tow reciept you place it on your dash you then close the door. question after closing door did you turn around to see if paper permit was still displayed? i assume not, but lets blame the property owner, the tower, everyone but ourselves for not being resposible enough to respect the rules for parking on someone else's property.
