GRILLE FROM IPANEMA DID NOT HONOR GIFT CERTIFICATE AFTER PAID MONEY FOR THEM WEST JORDAN Utah
My boss bought 100 of $25 gift certificates at Grille from Ipanema and gave all his employees for a change to take their family out for dinner because some people can't afford to go out anymore. We went to this place on Friday 11/17/08, enter the door, no one to greet us, and no sign whatsoever of any kinds, but the only sign I saw was HIRING. We sat down, a waiter came and asked us if we wanted pizza or meat, and we said we want pizza. By the way, this is our first time to this restaurant. We were waiting for the menu but no menu, and they mention there will be no menu. It took us 10 mins to wait for the waiter, the guy was nice, and even the pizza delivery. We waited for someone to tell us what else we can do, and then the pizza delivery showed up with the pizza, he asked us if we want anything, we said yes, the pieces were great eventhough they were little tiny. I think we ate the total of 9 pieces plus we had a salad. So, now its the time to pay. The waiter was not the one who delivered the bill, it was the owner himself. He gave the bill to my husband and my husband gave him the $25 gift certificate and also the half of the bill amount, the owner looked at the certificate and said " Sorry we can not honor these certificates anymore" with an accent. My husband looked at him and said we came here in one reason is the certificate and now you're telling me that you are not honoring these anymore? And he said yes, the guy who sold these certificates is not owning this company anymore, so the gift certificates are no longer belongs to us. And also he said there are signs all over the restaurant no more gift certificates. But first of all, there were no signs, second no one mention anything after my husband told a waiter that we had a certificate.
The waitress came and told us that they are hardly have any Americans come there but us, and now I know why, because they turned all the Americans away. Please if you want to go there and you have one of their gift certificates, do not go there. They will ripp you off and especially the owner will argue with you untill you give him all your hard earning money. He's rule and I think he didn't want his business to grow here in the United State. They should open their stinking business in the own country if thats what they are here for is ripping all the Americans off. Please do not go there, the food was not that great anyway. The owner suck badly and his english was awful..My advice for you The Owner..go back to school and have some manners.
