I was looking to begin driving for Uber but needed a car. Uber referred me to Grossinger Hyundai. My credit wasn't great after my spouse died of cancer and I too am a cancer patient. I had many email exchanges first with a man named John from Grossinger who assured me they could help. On June 18 I had an appointment to drop off some back statements to see about getting approved to buy an Elantra. I was sat down with pink-haired Nina.
I had expected to drop off these papers and go. I had a severe migraine and another appointment but when I tried to leave Nina said "oh i thought you were serious about buying a car but if you're not..." Feeling pressured I stayed though I felt ill and under duress. 3 hours later I'm being handed a million docs to sign for a not so great loan but sorta happy I was getting my car approved and it was affordable. Barely. So I gave them my signatures, my $1500 downpayment and left with my new car. No strings or special conditions were expressed to me. Just a regular high interest car loan.
3 weeks later a woman named Ninevah calls and is concerned saying I didn't sign a couple of forms and I needed to come back by right away. I was there the next day and was sent to finance manager Jorge who sat me down and started babling incoherently about something regarding my income. Now mind you my first car payment wasn't due for two more weeks, all was fine to me. Next thing he tells me my financing fell through and I have two choices. Give them another $2500 and get financed at an even worse rate or give them the keys back right now.
I I was stunned. I'd never heard of such nonsense in my life. This was done out of nowhere, in public, humiliating mr and leaving me with no car, no income again and stranded at the dealership to boot.
They took my car and told me I'd get my downpayment back.
That was over a month ago. They've not responded to any calls, emails, nothing. They've left me unable to work for four weeks and totally broke. Not even able to pay for my meds. Finally on 7/27 Jorge calls me and says they'll refund my deposit to my credit card right away. 5 days go buy with no refund and again no answer to my calls and emails. On 8/1 I finally get a refund of $740. Half of my $1500 security depoait and no answers no explanations nothing.
i went went there with nothing but the honest desire to buy a car. I did nothing wrong. Was on the level all the way and they for whatever reason have ruined me financially. I'm in danger of losing my home. I cannot buy my medications and for what? All so they could scan me out of $750 and my life?
Nobody should ever go near that company or its soulless minions from hell they call employees. They are dishonest unethical cowards no different from con men doing a subway heist. Evil and despicable.
